Hello,

Ive been living in asia for the last month.[previously UK] and have been experiencing the above symptons. Could my change in lifestyle be causing this? im not on medication, im 23 and have a balanced diet. Could this be an intestinal infection?

thanks

I think what youre experiencing is a case of IBS constipation. I know, because I suffer from the disease and was diagnosed after gaining weight, general discomfort and worries about my health. The main treatment is to increase the fiber intake of your diet. I suggest you go to the doctor so he can prescribe a medicine for IBS (usually Zelnorm). This is a condition usually suffered by women 18+ and it gets worse when exposed to stress.

Hope it helps

Here's a really late reply to David1982.
The first suspect in constipation is dehydration.
Ask yourself if it might not be because your new environment causes you to perspire more and/or to feel less thirsty. Before you start downing pharmaceuticals, remember that water is the first cure -- 8-10 glasses daily. In case you're eating more protein than before, go back to your former intake. That might account for the hardness.
Then you might want to check your fat intake. Are you eating more fats now than when you were back at the UK? That could account for the mucus.
Validate these with the color of your first morning pee. If it's yellow and pungent, then it's confirmed.
Nothing's stopping you from eating nice slices of fresh (not canned!) pineapple, is there? It can work wonders.
Be well! :-D
