because there are many different types and formulations of contraceptive pills. they don't all work in the same way and will have different side effects.
if you've consulted a doctor about the kidney stones why not ask THEM about the potential causes. the most common cause i have heard of for kidney stones is calcium supplements.

im not sure if you ever got an answer to this but I have been in an out of the emergency room due to kidneystones and I do believe it is the birth control. I have gotten off of them twice in a year and half and each time kidney stones stop coming back until i start back on again. Hope this helps. Drs nurses will tell you there is no research that shows kidneystones related to birth control but I know my body and you probably know yours as well.

I too am fairly healthy. I haven't been on birth control for years however after my dough child I went to the er with severe kidney pain. They found a stone the size of a nickel lodged in my lower ureter. That had to be blsted and out me in the hospital 3 days. I would say the only thing I can think of from all the research is the hormonal change caused by the birth control changes the way the blood and kidney use the foods and calcium we eat. Therefore causing our bodies to build up these minerals rather than utilize them. Its been three yeas since that hospitalization and I passed another stone the size 2 mm after asking God to help me pass. I drank a full glass of water very fast and went to the bathroom and out it came. I am currently experiencing the syptoms of more. I haven't taken birth control in over eight years but my body has never been the same. I'm currently cleaning and drinking Apple cider vinegar with mother and lemon water constantly. Its helping. Good luck to you all

I absolutely agree! Doctors wouldn't listen to me for over a year. I was in and out of the ER and doc visits. It happened every month the Sunday before my period. I was eventually taken to UCSF for kidney surgery which came out unsuccessful. I stopped taking the pill and bingo. Haven't had an episode since. I am debating on trying the birth control that stays just in your uterus becaus my skin has gotten bad since off the pill, but not bad enough to be as miserable as I was. You have to be your own advocate, most docs will only regurgitate what they are told.
