Hi, I would like some advice regarding hemangioma on my daughter’s face. She is only couple of months old but it looks like she will have to live with hemangioma on her face from now on. Could any complication occur if it is not removed? What would be the options for treating her?

Well, if it is not in a bad position, near eye for example, then we could say that it is harmless for now. It might spread in some ulcerous formations but it is not something that happens commonly. Still, there is a question of aesthetics which will not bother her now, but when she gets older, it will surely be a problem. As for options, some have tried hormonal therapy.

My daughter had one on her face, it appeared at about 2-3 mths old.

We took her to see a Vascular specialist at Children's Hospital in Seattle, WA, at first they did not want to do anything. We persisited because on the face is what she will a have to look at the rest of her life! They surgically removed it when she was 5months old and she in now 3yrs old and you can barely see where it was. She has a very thin scar from the surgery I would rather she have that thans stretched disfigured skin that will never look like the rest of her face. have it removed and fight for it no matter what location it is in. It could disfigure her bones if left for too long.
