My 4 year old daughter recently had a respiratory tract infection and at the same time she was diagnosed with cystic hygroma. So what is this cystic hygroma and how come I haven't noticed it so far for as her doc explained it to me she is probably having this cystic hygroma since she was born? Now I would like that cystic hygroma to be removed even by a surgery for I am terrified my daughter has something with the name like that. Anyway I would like to hear what actually this cystic hygroma is and why my doc told me it should be controlled first by some ultra sound or CT scan for in some cases the removal of cystic hygroma is not possible.

It is true-in some cases it is not possible performing surgical removal of cystic hygroma for it might happen it pressures some nerves or blood vessels and in fact in these cases the cystic hygroma is being removed only partially but than the recurrence chance are much bigger and are actually common if such is the case. My baby had cystic hygroma as soon as he was born and it was visible right away on the back of her neck but fortunately she had a surgery that has removed this cystic hygroma in total without any complications and without recurrence and it was almost 5 years ago.
