Hi. I have noticed some small dark lines under my nails, near the tip. A friend told me it is called a splinter hemorraghes and said there is no reason to be worried. Fortunatelly, I have a dark skin and those lines are not so visible. Should I be worried?

Hi. Splinter hemorraghes are really nothing to be worry about. They are caused by voids between the nail plate cells. They will sometimes appear on your nails, but not a reason to be concerned. I think that your dark lines under nails could be a pigmented bands. Dark lines are sometimes are normal occurrence in dark skinned persons. They are actually pretty common. Must say I`ve read somewhere that stress or trauma can give you horizontal dark lines under your nails.
