I have had this kind of pain for a long time, too. I have read all the following posts and it seems like we are suffering from the same symptoms. It is bad this morning so I did some research. I just recovered from that terrible flu and took mountains of ibuprofen, Naproxen, etc. for the fever and pain.

It may be a hernia inside your stomach, i have the same thing going on. I have the hernia and back pain and the left side soreness almost like a bruising feeling, i also have heart burn because of hernia. Your stomach isnt aligned where its suppose to be so it causes all this discomfort. Go see a g.i. doc and get a esophogoscopy i think thats how you spell it. Its where the go down your throat with a scope and scan. If your over weight, smoke, lift heavy things etc your chances are you have one. Hope this helped.

I have the same problem... just general discomfort and it sounds just like what I'm reading from everyone. I have had a colonoscopy, and the upper GI... everything came back normal except for they said I have quite a few internal hemorrhoids... I don't think that is the cause though.  Has anyone gotten to the bottom of this? What are next steps? If I've had the tube up the butt and down the throat, would a CT Scan help or did that pretty much do the same thing?

It seems like the doctors think we are full of sh.. like we just make these things up. But i feel there is something wrong, we know our body. So if your not satisfied i would switch drs. I know its a pain in the butt, but as long as you need to feel comfortable and know its nothing serious id do what you need to do! Im getting sick of drs period. I do a better job diagnosing myself then they do. If you have anymore questions please ask thank you. Have a great night.

I too am dealing with this lately. I had a bad kidney stone issue in January which required surgery and internal tube repair. About a month or so after the surgery, I started to develop the pain in the left side, cramping, tingle arm at times, and it is made worse by movement. Played softball last night and was ready to cry when done. Seems like someone is squeezing my kidney. Getting so fed up with this as the doctors don't seem to care. Get getting the "it takes time, be patient..." response. I dont want to be patient as it is interferring with my daily routine now. I feel like a pharmacy lab rat lately. I had the CT and X-Ray - all negative. Blood work - normal. WTF is wrong with me?? If anybody gets relief, please post it up. I will do the same. Good luck to all...

Today im going in to get a ultrasound done hopefully it shows something, that way itll help everyone. And it is true about the lab rat. I refuse to take medicine for anything except tylenol. Drs now days just want to shove meds down your throat instead of finding the problem! Ill keep everyone updated.

I have the same problem. It started 7 months ago just before Thanksgiving. It never really hurt, it just felt weird, like everyone says, like there is a little balloon under my lower left ribs. I keep feeling my skin to see if anything is protruding, but I hate pushing down on that area. I feel it when I'm hungry but even more if I eat too much. It makes it hard to sit down properly. It makes me feel short of breath and tired because I feel like I can't fill up my lungs completely because it is in the way. Recently it has begun periodically gurgling or rumbling. The first day I felt it it was much worse and I felt very tired. I had pain in my shoulder, too. I went to the emergency room and they wanted to charge me $4000 to tell me that it was pleurisy, which I had zero other symptoms for. I had an X-ray and blood tests, all of which showed nothing. The doctor charged me $600 to say three words to me over 30 seconds. I stayed in bed for a couple of days and eventually felt better. It went away for a few months but now it is back. I am a 29-year-old female with no other health problems. I just want it to go awayyyyy. I hope they find the answer for you, Christina.

I'm a 43 yr old female.  I've had this dull pain under my left breast/rib cage for about 2 yrs.  Thinking that I pulled a muscle with my first ever aerobics class, I just tried to ignore it for months.  It was a constant bother and I couldn't press on it without extreme pain.  It continued to hurt with certain movements, pressing on it or breathing deeply.  Underwire bra uncomfortable.  Finally, I went to the doctor (about 8 months ago).  A chest xray, side view xray, MRI, CT, upper/lower endoscopy and bloodwork all came back normal.  The internist was stumped.  The GI doc, unimpressed.  I tried Ibuprophen & Zantac.  Still hurts.  I guess I will just to live with it.  It will either go away one day or something terrible will happen.  Wish I had an answer.

I have had this same problem for about three months. I have noticed that mine worsens in the evening, especially after a hot shower. There is some slight pain at times, but mostly just discomfort as it feels like a small ball or balloon is sitting under my rib cage. I have been through CT-Scans, ultrasounds, multiple doctor's have pressed on my abdomen, and blood tests, upper endoscopy, x-rays.... I have pretty much been told that we ruled out anything life threatening, so just live with it or let them know if more symptoms come up. The weird part is I have been sick with many other things going on at the same time that I swear have to be related... I am a 26 year old female and have never had any health issues. My GI Doc gave me meds for stomach spasms saying that was her guess as to what the discomfort is, but once I researched stomach spasms I decided that did not match and I don't like taking medicine that my body doesn't need. I have been having respiratory issues along with this, and just simply not feeling well.

Has anyone gotten any answers yet? Please let me know! The anxiety over this issue is killing me!

Hi Jenene. Unfortunately I have come up with no answers yet. I have been dealing with this for about a year and a half now. Tomorrow I will go to the Sansum clinic in Santa Barbara to see an internist. I really hope that we can come a little closer to some kind of diagnosis. I will definitely let everyone know if anything good comes of it. Are you still having issues? Any new ideas on your end?

WOW, it is crazy that we all have this unique sensation in, on, or around the Left Rib cage area under the breast area!  I am curious to know if any of you have been bitten by a Tick or Spider and if any of you have been diagnosed with LYME DISEASE? Unfortunately I have been diagnosed but this symptom is not recognized by my doctor although many other Lyme victims report having this disorder.  I will continue my own personal 'Doctor Detail' and monitor this site to see what others are saying.  I WILL update this forum if I receive any "REAL" answers.

i just recently had this happen to me. It was after I ate a giant meal at the local In-N-out burger and I thought it started because I ate too much and maybe it would  subside after I slept the food off, but it is still bothering me days later. and I dont know what is wrong. I am experiencing a gurgling, constipation, gas, and that balloon feeling that each of you have described. I don't normally have any health issues.
