I have been feeling the same- discomfort under my left rib, feel like there's something there that at times I feel it pop and move. I had a doctor examine the area and said it felt normal, however it feels as if something extra is there. The doctor also explained we have cartilage on or around ribs and it might just be extra cartilage that popped. Im afraid there is a tumor growing there. I will seek more medical care. .

I started having this sensation just the other day. I was bitten by something (tick or spider) about a week ago. The bite was on my back and the red bulls-eye started growing and continued to grow. At first I was not worried, just thought it was a spider bite and would get better over time. The bite area did not hurt, just itched. As I researched the rash and concern about the area growing I came upon the potential that it might have been a tick and Lyme disease. I went to the doctor yesterday and he gave me an antibiotic that I hope will take care of the infection and Lyme disease. The doctor thought it was a spider bite, but said the antibiotic would help in either case if it was in fact Lyme disease. Not sure how this relates to the left rib cage sensation but thought I would mention my situation since it fits JP Shumway description.

I also had the same problem for 5-6 years. Been for lots of tests Nothing found.
I did have an emergency entry into local hospital 10 years ago diagnoised with acute pancreatitis staying inpatient 9 days.
I am also on lanzaprozole for acid reflux, but started noticing joint pain. Being 55 thought it was age related.
My main discomfort feels like a trapped muscle inbetween ribs,?.? But feel full after meals.

You are not alone. I have exactly the same problem, had a Colonoscopy 2years ago, and Endoscopy, Ultra sound,, and everything showed negative. I get pain, bubbling , popping noises, diahrea, sometimes eat lots of vegatables and take Metamucil every day. nothing helps. sometimes there's no pain at all, especially when I am standing up anf doing something that takes my mind off the pain, then when I lay on my side to sleep, there's the pain again. Dr thinks IBS? I am on anti Anxiety pills and Fluoxetine, also Blood pressure meds, and Estradile,. could all the meds be a factor? I Really would like some help. I'm tired of talking to my doctor about it, he's as baffled as me.

Hi, I have similar symptoms, more discomfort than pain but sometimes when I bend over it feels like my stomach is being sucked inwards. Paranoid about it being something scary. Mine worse when standing still and lying down. Hope you're all better now.

Exactly the same as me. I've had upper and lower GI's CT scans, blood tests for renal and liver function, chest x-rays, a diagnosis and treatment of H Pylori, Peptic ulcer, and a gall bladder removal. STILL not Cured or Identified. Mine will sometimes signify an immediate, out of the blue diarrhea festival, and sometimes it will just gurgle. Does anyoine know at least what organ it is related to? Or maybe had a specialist suggest whether it's a blockage, or stone, or unusual stricture or something else? So many of us would be helped if one person could isolate the issue. Grrr.

I have suffered from this for over 2 years. It started out as an uncomfortable feeling at night when I was trying to sleep and it has become a consistant pain in my rib cage (bones) and lately I have started to have some pains in my right rib cage. Have had every test under the sun, including rare blood disorders such as porphyria, CT scan, Bone Scan, MRI, nuerological testing, endoscopy, colonoscopy etc. Nothing has been found. I even made them look at my pancreas. I have tried Acupuncture (2x which made it worse), Osteopath's, massage, and even physical therapy. My dr's have been unable to come up with anything besides IBS, which I am sure is not the problem. I do know that the IBS symptoms add to my pain, but are not the sole cause. I have started to think it might be autoimmune since I have had bouts of dizziness and left sided weakness also. My middle back hurts as well. This has DESTROYED my life. I take norco's, Librax (for IBS) and have recently started Gabapentin to hopefully help with the pain. Please if ANYONE figures this out, I would love to know. If I was rich I would go to better Dr.'s.

Oh my goodness! It is like we are twins! I have had the same symptoms, tests, and even got a prescription for spasms, but after reading the side effects decided my discomfort under the ribs was better than the side effects and didn't take it. I have been experiencing this discomfort under/around my left lower rib cage for 9 months now. It started off feeling like a balloon or ball under my ribs, but after a month or so, now just feels like a bulge or inflammation. I am skinny and can see a bulge or mass on the lower part of my left rib cage, but doctors just tell me that my left rib cage sticks out further than the right - even though it has never been like this before. I have seen a GP and a Gastroenterologist and had bloodwork, ultrasound, MRI, and upper endoscopy - everything has come back 100% normal. In the meantime I have also had several other strange and potentially serious "episodes" that have to be related. I had a couple week span of absolutely no energy - to the point of almost passing out if I tried to push through it enough to just do a load of laundry or walk across the street. I lost 10 lbs. during that period and no one can explain what it was. Then, I had what I thought was a stroke, but after a trip to the ER and 2 CT scans, came back with a diagnosis of a atypical migrane (first migrane ever in my life). Then, after that I started having heart palpitations, had a heart monitor put on for 48 hours and came back and confirmed some kind of arythmia, but after further testing, heart seems normal. I am a 33 year old female, normal weight, non-smoker, don't drink alcohol, healthy eater (no fast food, little to no junk food - mostly vegetarian diet). I am so frustrated and scared about this!

i'm having a CT scan on tuesday for the exact same symptoms. been having issues with this since november. From everything i've read i'm thinking it's either a hernia, ibs or something pancreas related. Doctor has been quite unhelpful and generaly Condescending, even suggesting that my symptoms will cease once the CT shows no problems :/

hi guys I have the same symptoms as most of you and after much research I come to this conclusion: most likely - A hiatus hernia or hiatal hernia is the protrusion (or herniation) of the upper part of the stomach into the thorax through a tear or weakness in the diaphragm. the second is there's a main muscle just there that can act up if you get deficiencies from not eating properly. thirdly it can be caused by stomach problems, again usually caused by bad diet or stress to the stomach, for example being sick too hard (I wonder if you all think back did any of you start gettin these symptoms after an illness that caused vomiting or making yourself sick?) sure remind your doctor it might be one of these but apart from the hernia (which can be found by scans) the only way of solving these problems are a healthy balanced diet (yes you'll have to stick with it long term to see the difference) and keeping anxiety/stress in check.
