Hi all
Same symptoms as everyone else (though I'm male and most people seem to be female I believe).
Last year I was diagnosed with a hiatus hernia and I'm almost positive this is what is causing the problem now. It's definitely worth investigating for those of you who are unsure.
I've had a stressful few weeks and apparently this makes it worse.
I'm seeing my doctor tomorrow and it's been like this for a few months but as far as I can see the options are:

1. Surgery which sounds horrendous and with major side effects.
2. Physical manipulation to pull the stomach back into place. This sounds preferable and I'm going to discuss this first if the hernia is the cause.

I finally figured out what it was that was causing my pain.

It is called "abdominal wall pain". In my case there was no relation to eating or bowel movements, only to posture and stress. Driving in the car for long periods was a big trigger. Sometimes if I ate a big meal it would hurt, but more because my stomach was pressing against it than anything to do with eating.

In my case the pain was greatly improved by acupuncture. Within a couple weeks of acupuncture treatment, the pain shrank from a mango-sized pain deep in my side to a quarter-sized pain right at the surface. Now I can massage this spot and get relief, which is extremely helpful. I discontinued acupuncture because I moved, but if I had continued it for a bit longer I think my pain relief would have been even more complete. I had a friend with exactly the same symptoms as I had and she found total relief this way.

Unfortunately my dear friend has many of the same symptoms being discussed here. He is early 50s and very active/healthy eater - not a big drinker. He has not been the same person since the pain started, it has been scary to see him suffering from also worrying so much about his health and losing faith in the U.S. medical system. He also has a small bulge on left side as you mentioned. He was finally told by a natural health practitioner a week ago that Western doctors may not be the right way to go, and not to wait any longer seeing U.S. doctors who recommend med test after test and prescribe one after another course of health damaging medicines and antibiotics, prolonging the process under the reasoning of ruling out one possibility after another which is a long and expensive process - only to get no diagnosis. It's like he was poisoned. He is headed outside of the U.S. after 6 months of steady pain and no diagnosis from several U.S. gastroenterologists and internists he has consulted. Many suggestions of possibilities and treatments, many prescriptions and tests, no answer in sight after six months. He has had many expensive tests - CT scan, endoscopy, colonoscopy, blood tests, even probiotics regimens (which helped him in some ways) but he still has the pain on his left side under the ribs almost every day. Very saddening (and odd) to see so many people of varying ages and locations writing about having similar symptoms and all being undiagnosed following so much testing in the U.S. Anything toxic introduced into the body through food, drink, viral/bacteria contact or other methods can be stored in the body and only the right therapy and getting to it in time enough to prevent it from permanently affect organ health is key so he is going outside of the U.S. Health plans, insurance companies in the U.S. don't appear to particularly incentivize doctors in the right ways or support proper or fair practices in health care. I am praying for him to connect with the right doctor - wherever that is - who can and will hopefully (at the very least) be able to narrow down/pinpoint more closely the cause of his health issue. Good luck everyone.

Possible solution: I have had this problem for years and now when it happens (every time I sit) I do a self colon massage. It sounds gross but it is very easy and I get instant relief for about 5 mins.

It is poop going thru your large intestines. Thats why it feels like a bump is slowly moving around inside, because there is a bump moving around. It hurts because it is getting blocked in there.

Hi, i am having the same problem and waiting on an ultrasound in a few weeks. I was considering the colonoscopy too so wondered if it provided any answers for you? I hope things got better for you, thanks for any help you can offer....

I have the stomach gurgling, hurts on left side from under my ribs down to ovaries. Every time I eat it starts hurting under my rib cage, then starts gurgling on right side near gallbladder, then hurts in lower left side. I either have loss stools or am constipated, that goes back and forth. I had an abdominal sonogram, pelvic sonogram, a hida scan, blood work, and a pylori breath test for the gallbladder all of which came back good. But now I am stuck not know what to do. It is miserable, has been non stop for about two weeks. I have anxiety and my doctor doesn't seem to want to treat that. I would think that anti wry would lead to stomach problems. Let me know if you ever got any relief or a diagnoses.

I have the EXACT same problems. Have you figured out what was wrong? I know you posted a long time ago, hoping to still get a response.

There seems to be several of us who cannot find relief through the doctors. Tell me do you take heartburn medication? I am working on a theory that bacteria normally killed by stomach acid are making its way into the digestive tract causing swelling and irritation.

I am interested in knowing if you ever received a diagnosis? I have the exact symptoms that you mentioned and have had all the same tests. NOTHING! This has been ongoing for a couple of years now and I'm having a terrible "flair up" now.

Hi all, this is the second flare up I've had of this, had for a few days now. Last time I got rid with a couple doses of straight aloe Vera (the concentrated liquid stuff you can get at health food store). The day after taking I had some diorreah and it was gone! I haven't tried it again yet, so could be coincidence (I also had a few mugs of strong ginger tea) will let you know if it works again this time. I really hope it does coz I couldn't stand the discomfort for as long as some of you have had it!! I have have a few theories; I notice both times I've been eating a lot of tomatoes before hand (acid), and beef (hard to digest), make of that what you will. Had an ultra sound and nothing out of place, been given a prescription for antacids but decided to try aloe Vera instead, and it seemed to work... Will update

My bra bugs me too, especially when I am feeling full and having this crampy feeling below my left rib. I had 2 spasms in a few days, once while tying my shoes, and another while doing biceps repetitions. Very strange, and btw, I just started taking more magnesium, and hope this helps, but who knows. Maybe I should stop my drinking beer, I get very gassy, then have to take gas pills. Hmmmm

Try a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar (pure) in a cup of water. Drink half before you eat, and the other half after done eating. This has truly helped me with any heartburn or reflux feelings. Let me know if that helps, and this is very common, due to LACK of acid, vs. too much acid in stomach. PS.. ACV has many beneficial uses...
