I feel so relieved but worried all at the same time. I have these symptoms and it seems none of us have answers. Pain at when sitting or laying down. Especially at night. Tingling in the arm and sometimes so bad it radiates to my right side. I've said it feels like there is not enough room for my organs. Not extreme pain but super super uncomfortable. I've gone to the dr been prescribed ibuprofen 800. Went back to the dr and said the ibuprofen was causing my pain. Was prescribed Zantac 300 mg a day for gastritis (stomach inflammation) Doesn't seem to help. I've had this pain for about 2 yrs 26 year old female. Wear a brace and ice pack to sleep at night. Eleviated when I raise my left arm. I hope we find the answers

Hello all,

Same story here for me as everyone else. Tons of tests done and nothing found. However, now I'm going to be tested for something called diaphragm paralysis on my left side only. My thought is this: normally your diaphragm is responsible for holding your stomach and other organs down in place. If something happens to damage or irritate your phrenic nerve (you have two), one side of you diaphragm can become limp and useless allowing for those organs to push up into your chest cavity. You can still breathe since your stomach muscles can compensate, but you may notice some shortness of breathe when lying down, after eating a large meal, and heavy exertion. It can also cause worsening of acid reflux issue if you already have them.

I am having some tests done next week and will do my best to report back on the findings.

Alistair. I have had the bulging between my ribs, and feeling like I can't eat but so hungry. My stomach swells up like a balloon , I was tols I have IBS with chronic conetipation. I think the bulging is a hernia, but now I feel like I have torn a muscle from my rib that is attached to the hernia in some way. I can feel a dent where the muscle has been torn. I try to keep it bandage tightly so it heals. Every time I move I feel it pull and a pain. Now sometimes when I swallow I have a spasm, sometimes I catch a sudden breath, not on purpose but my lungs do it on their own and it freaks me out. I have had so many issues lately I don't even want to tell my dr about it. I have had all the test and all have came back normal. Had 9 biopsies during colon and endo. But this was all before the bulg! USEFUL

Hi There.  I have had this left side rib cage pain for years now.  I think it is a condition called Splenic Flexure caused by pregnancy.  Basically, it is very hard to believe all this pain is caused by this, but, when food leaves your stomach and goes into the large intestine, under the left cage, it has to make a sharp turn down into the main part of the bowel (look at a picture of the bowel from the stomach).  At the bend, (i.e. in the corner of the bend of the bowel) it is very common for trapped gas to sit here).  If it is not expelled, it just sits and balloons up.  The balloon causes a pushing on the spleen which sits under the rib cage and can refer into the back and under the shoulder blade.  it can mimic heart pain and lung pain and is very scary and painful.  I have recently had an episode where my heart went into AF and I was rushed to hospital with the chest pain.  My bloods came back clear, it settled down, i was tested for diabetes and thyroid as well as underlying infection and all clear. i've had tests for menopause, all clear.  Had and ultrasound of the heart, all clear.  I've got to see a cardiologist in a few weeks to see if there is any other underlying cause for the rapid heartbeat (God willing, there's not), but I have had the left pain for 7 years now and the rapid heartbeat for 3 years.  It is awful and very worrying going through all the tests.  I also have very bad gurgling and like a feeling that there is a blockage there and gas or liquid is pushing past it.  Look up Splenic Flexure.  There are forums that all describe the same symptoms.  Some milder than others and many with the rapid heartbeat.  Hope this helps.  Dawn

I have had the same symptoms. Uncomfortable to wear a bra also. My dr told me to wear a wireless bra, which helps a little. I had an upper GI and was told I have acid reflux. Eating doesn't seem to affect it, but that's what the dr said . I have been taking dexilant and it helps only occasionally. I sure wish someone could tell us what is going on. Very uncomfortable at times!

This has been happening to me for months now. It is only the left side and the intensity changes daily. I have a "weird" feeling in my ribs both front and back. More irritating than painful. Sometimes it's a burning sensation sometimes it stings but never really hurts. Many times it is under my left breast area. Also my left shoulder feel very weak at times. Any answers would help.
