My mum had a hysterectomy last July and is still in a lot of pain. She had a CT scan in October and was referred to a bowel specialst who told her that she had diverticulitus.
My mum is in terrible pain. She was finally given antibiotics last week but the pain never goes away. Her stomach is very tender to the touch, especially near her belly button and she has always got a back ache.
Is there anything that can be given to provide her with immediate relief? She has also been given some tablets to help with acid but she is in agony. She can't sleep most nights and is now very depressed because she is in constant pain and no one seems to be taking it seriously.
Please help.

Mild cases of diverticulitis can be treated with rest, changes in your diet and antibiotics but serious cases like your mother’s may require surgery to remove the diseased portion of their colon.
