I never know when it's going to hit me, but I will become light headed, funny feeling in my head with need to close my eyes, nausea and need for cool air in my face and need to lie down. Seem like there's something going on in the back of my neck, at the base of the skull Usually this happens when I am sitting. :-(

My mom has bouts with vertigo. Have you been checked for that. Vertigo causes all of the symptoms you mentioned, including the fact that it occurs when you are not actually moving. It can be caused by inflammation of the inner-ear. Did you have an infection of the inner-ear? I don't know about the back of the skull or neck thing. Check it out with your doctor.
