Lately I don’t feel well. My daughter told me she heard on television something about symptoms that I have. Skin inflammation, depression, abnormal skin sensations, muscle pains and hair loss are some of them. She told me that could be sign for deficiency with vitamin Biotine. If that is true, did anyone have this kind of deficiency, and what is that?

I was watching on television something about that kind of deficiency, but looks like it wasn’t the same episode, because I heard about a lot about biotine. They said it’s one of crazy vitamins that our body manufactures. This essential vitamin is created by hard work of thousands tiny microorganisms. We also get some from diet. Reason for biotine deficiency couldn’t be any toxicity, only if our body doesn’t work correctly we can get a deficiency. This disorder was noticed with some patients that were on TPN for years. Symptoms may be vomiting and anorexia too, beside those you mention. Interesting thing that I have remembered was avadin. That is substance in raw egg whites that bonds to biotine and in this form can’t be absorbed. When eggs are cooked, avadin is ineffective, but all this shouldn’t worry you because we should eat 24 raw egg whites a day so we get biotine deficiency this way. I didn’t hear it dangerous but you should visit your doctor and see what to do.
