Alright heres the deal, i ran cross country and track in HS, ran probably an average of 19-20 minutes for a 5k. Didnt run in college, and I am now getting back in to it. However, when I run I get somewhat of burning pain in my right lower calf and sometimes in my left, although the right calf is always more painful.
I have never had this problem befor and I can run through it somewhat. Although I find it easier to stop and walk for about a 100 meters about every mile so the burning will temporarily stop. I also notice that it doesnt hurt at all or very little if I would switch to running 800m splits with rest in between as opposed to a 4 mile run. For instance the pace I would run at for my long run day would cause the burning, but if I ran at 800m to a mile pace it wouldnt.
Any suggestions or ideas what this is or is caused by?

thanks!
