First off I'll give a brief history of why I was on that strong of medication while only 23 years old. Car wreck in 04' I crushed the L1 vertabre and now all of the lumbar region is bulging or herniated. Superimposed broadbased disc protrusion, Centrally oriented osteophytes on multiple facet joints, Spinal Canal Stenosis on all levels of lumbar. I have Long thorasic nerve palsy which causes all the other muscles in my back to try to pick up the slack which in turn causes muscle spasms. Loss of normal lumbar lordosis consistent with muscle spasms. Basically that means that I've had muscle spasms for so long and so bad that they have reduced the natural curve in my spine. Some refer to that as flat back. I have degenerative disc disease which is why my original injury is getting worse instead of the bone actually being stronger than before. I have a few other things wrong as well but that should cover the majority of it. I do have severe anxiety attacks and that's what the clonzapam is for.
Ok.... So I've been prescribed pain medication for the last 4+ years. Started with the small stuff. Moved me up to lortab and about 5 months ago my doctor moved me up to percocet 10 mg for my chronic pain. I'm prescribed 3 clonzapam a day for anxiety... This past month my doctor couldn't get me in when I was due back because they were booked. So a day or so after I was due back I was having some withdrawl symptoms and I was in immence pain and my nerves were shot due to withdrawls and typical anxiety. I found one of my older Lortab 7.5 bottles that had some left and I took a few of those and the next day I went to the dr and they had me pee in a cup for the first time in five years of seeing him which I was ok with. The next visit I had they said they found hydrocodone in my system along with oxycodone. I explained I had some left from a previous prescription and thought everything would be fine. Boy was I wrong. He said he could no longer prescribe me anything that was narcotic??? He said I put him in a bad position? The DEA are coming down hard on everyone here in Ky when they should be working there way down to Florida.... People who use pain meds recreationally are making it damn near impossible for the people who need medication to get it. I am insured or anything so I don't have any real options right now. I have been going through withdrawls really bad and don't know what to do. I just don't think any dr should jerk people off medication.

I'm sorry to hear your story because it sounds really unfair that you were pulled off the medication but it is an important story for anyone who takes prescription drugs that have not been prescribed by the doctor. I know that it's really awful though and I feel bad for you. How are you coping with withdrawal symptoms?

This situation is so similiar to mine. I, too am angry with physicians who think everyone who needs pain meds. for real are treated like criminals. I finally found a good doctor in Birmingham, Al who understands.
