Hi, in the last few days I have been feeling a strange dull pain in my testicles. This testicular discomfort seems to have begun after a day of moving furniture out of my girlfriends old apartment to a new one. I might have overloaded myself just a little, I felt the pain in my back and my abdominal muscles and I thought it was just a normal muscle ache that will go away. After I cooled off for a little while, that was about four hours after the moving, I felt the weird discomfort in my testicles that I'm feeling up till now. What is the cause of this, could it be some kind of a cold or a virus that I have caught?

There are may causes of testicular discomfort, some of them can be a mechanical and physical nature like trauma and others can be because of some kind of infection, bacterial or viral, or it can also be a testicular tumor developing but it is very unlikely that pain in the testicles will be the decisive symptom for diagnosing testicular cancer, and if it occurs it usually a good sign, a sign of early warning. In your case I think that it is very unlikely to be any of these. Since you have felt the pain in your abdomen following the physical strain and hard physical activity I would suspect that it is an inguinal hernia it its early stages. I think that you should ask your doctor or your urologist to take a look at you and determine the exact diagnosis. Inguinal hernia is usually treated surgically with great success, but if it’s in a early stage the doctor will probably let you rest for few days to see if the muscular wall of the abdomen could recover by itself, if not the surgery will be absolutely necessary. Good luck with it and let us know how it went with the doctor.
