im 19. about 6-8 months ago i think, i was experiencing this very slight, sort of dull ache/discomfort in my right testicle. it was such a mild thing and it seemed to come and go and i didn't worry about it till i found a small, hard lump at the top of my testicle. i had it checked out with an ultrasound and they confirmed it was just a cyst which they told me come and go. they told me they were surprised i had found it because it was so small.

from then on, my mind was at ease, even though i didn't find the cause of this mild discomfort. i think i was worrying about it being something more serious and when i found out there was nothing actually wrong, i stopped worrying and the problem was gone.

skip forward 8 months to about 3 weeks ago. this same kind of issue started again in my right testicle. i ignored it at first but then, like the hypochondriac i am, started obsessing and mulling over it. i checked constantly for any more lumps or unusual things in my testicle but found none, everything seemed fine. this discomfort continues but whenever i try and find the source of pain in my testicle it sort of vanishes. sometimes i think i'm imagining it.

i then found that if i became engrossed in something and stopped thinking about it all together, the issue completely vanished. about a week ago, i had a real busy day and was constantly doing stuff and using my head alot to think about work and things and then at the end of the day i realised my testicles had felt perfectly normal. this lasted for a few days as i forgot about the issue and moved on with life but then yesterday it sort of resurfaced.

it feels like i'm constantly aware of my right testicle, like i'm constantly "feeling" it's presence, it's hard to describe. it's not actually pain as such, just a sort of awareness of my testicle.

my right testicle seems very slightly larger than the left, but it's hard to tell because it's just hard in general to try and get hold of your testicles. i think it's always been that way though.

i've read that tumors involved in testicular cancer are generally present from birth and only become malign in puberty. i know having an ultrasound doesn't rule anything out but i'm kind of reluctant to go to my GP again to have him tell me the same stuff again.

what the hell should i do? if i forget about the problem it just disappears. it's like my mind is causing all of this. so frustrating!

any help is appreciated.

Hi! Sometimes that dull discomfort is caused by masturbation or sexual activity. If you are physically active and play sports that could be the cause as well. Wearing boxers and running, jumping or being physical can cause your scrotum to bounce around, so if you're doing any of that (with boxers) you may try to wear something with more support like boxer briefs. One testicle is usually a bit larger than the other and one will usually hang lower than the other, we're created that way for their protection. Now, a pain like that can also be related to a hernia (small tear in the lining of the intestinal wall) However, this pain is usually sharp and pretty intense at times... You should go to your GP once more, but you shouldn't be concerned that much.

hmmm, the exercise i do is weight lifting although i haven't been able to go for 3 months since i've been overseas. when i was training though, i would experience this weird burning sensation in my abdomen to the right slightly when i do deadlifts or squats. very weird but i doubt that is the cause of this.

i think it's a mind over matter thing. i'm sure that if i was able to completely forget about this problem, the problem would not exist.

I agree! Use the power of autosuggestion.

i'm very interested to see if your mind can aggravate existing medical issues you might have.

Honestly this is what I'm going thru. The exact same problem as the OP but got much much more perceptible after being conscious about it. Before that it was a very minor thing.. probably because my boxers are slightly trapping the testis. Now i feel its there all the time. Conscious. I dont feel any pain soon as I wake up - clearly because that's not the first thing I think about.
