I am facing my second stapendectomy. The prosthesis has dislodged. At minimum, I need to have the "loose" prosthesis removed. First surgery was not very successful in improving hearing, and there was a long period of vertigo and severe response to background noise.
Would appreciate sharing of experiences of others with this surgery in helping me determine whether I should have this done a second time.
Thanks.

I am 9 wks post op of my second Stapendectomy, and am still having complications. I lost my hearing in that ear, and still experiencing serious vertigo. I can't drive, it makes me sick to ride in a vehicle, and am very unsteady when walking. My Dr prescribed Predisone tablets for 3 wks, and this didn't help, he then gave me a steroid injection in my ear, this did not help either. The latest is that maybe he will go back in and do an exploratory to see what is going on??? How did everything turn out for you? I am trying to be optimistic, but it is not easy. Maybe you can give me some hope.
Thanks
