Sometimes, there is no definitive cause for getting epididymitis or, at least, the doctors won't be able to find the cause. By the time you show up to the specialists, they just want to help alleviate the pain with anti-inflammatories and treat the epididymitis with antibiotics in case this is being caused by a bacterial infection.

I was diagnosed with the same thing and was given a short term antibiotic and after a few days I couldn't tell anything was ever wrong. But I can tell you that during the onset I have never felt anything like it and don't care if I never do again! The only thing I can compare the felling to would be getting hit "down there". I noticed a lump on the testicle and pain. I'm bad for assuming the worst when anything happens so that I can mentally prepare myself to hear it officially, so I assumed I had testicular cancer because I was not familiar with epididymitis. My one and only main question for the urologist was "what causes it to happen and is there anything I can do to prevent it from happening again" but unfortunately he told me there was no known cause.

My friend from what i understand you had epididymitis and you were cured by taking antibiotics? What did you do to cure yourself? I am desperate. Everything started as a UTI for me and as i thought i was cured one day i woke up and i had that weird feeling that my left testicle was heavier. A bit later the pain started and since that day almost half a month passed and i havent seen any progression from the treatment thaat my doctor perscribed me. Please let me know what you did to cure this ugly disease and help you fellow sufferers to find back their lifes.

Hello my friend. Did you heal yourself with any antibiotics. Do you still feel any pain on your testicles?

I had the testicle removed. It was a year or more and I could not get any relief. It has been a few months now and it is a lot better even though there is a bit of a discomfort but that should go away I was told.

Hello everyone does anybody know of anyone who has had children after having epididymitis? Doctors all say it's fine and shouldn't affect your ability to father children but it would calm me down if I heard of actual people who had children post epididymitis!haha!thanks for any clarification :)

Listen up guys if you think you're suffering wait to you hear my story. In june 2014, aged 29 i visited my doctor for pain in my left testicle/groin area. He said everything felt ok but sent me for an ultrasound anyway. After the ultrasound i was told the left testicle is fine but i have testicular cancer in the right! So a week later i had the right ball removed but the pain in the left one remained. I was told the pain was from "having everything played with" during surgery and it will go soon. Anyway 2 weeks later i was told that i never had cancer in the first place and unfortunately the ultrasound was wrong. I was obviously very upset about this but still had the pain in lefty which i was told yet again was nothing to worry about! So a few months go by and eventually the pain gets worse and im finally diagnosed with epidydimitis. Unfortunately due to the complete incompetence of the doctors i saw it was too late and had become chronic epidydimitis also spreading to my prostate and urinary tract. I have tried about 5 different antibiotics, co-amoxiclav works but as soon as i finish the course it returns. Now I will explain the only things that help me, a desperate man so maybe i can help you. 1. Flomax (alpha blockers) to relax your waterworks and prostate. 2. Dmannose and lots of it, its like cranberry extract but 50 times stronger. 3. Dried apricots to help with bowel movements. 4. Vitamin C supplements to help immune system. 5. Saw palmetto. 6. My least favourite, stop lifting weights :( 7. Hot baths/showers.

Imagine going from the peak of your health to losing a testicle needlessly and being constantly reminded of that traumatic event by the other one swelling up 24/7. This whole thing has left me traumatised but im still here trying to rebuild my life. I love the gym and have always been a keen bodybuilder but i noticed a pattern that every time i lift weights i suffer for 3 days with a swollen testicle so i cant do what i enjoy anymore. If i stay away from the gym the testicle is sort of stable. My next step is to try the cord block to see if it improves things.

I have the same problem! I think it was caused by urine back flow as you mentioned, and pain after ejaculation. I'm really stressing out about this and I want to take care of the problem and prevent it from happening..please let me know of anything else that has helped you! Thank you!

I'm set for an operation on 8/19/16 to fix a left hernia and removal of the left testicle as well. I've been dealing with what I believe is chronic epididymitis since 1986. I'm over it! The hernia might be adding to the pain but I feel like since I'm getting that operation right there anyway, I might as well try removing the left ball and epi as well....sucks but I don't want to deal with it anymore...It was good to finally read a post that a teste removal helped....how are you today?

Hi,

I am creating whatsapp group for people suffering from epididymytis/groin pain/Prostatis infection.
As doctors are clueless lets form a group and share what has helped to each other.

I shall add your number to the group.

Thanks!

4days after surgery I'm feeling pretty damn good thx :) The hernia op pain is a b***h of course and it's only been 4days but they did the orchiectomy at the same time through the same cut, and I'm so grateful it's over and I'm on my way to a life with less pain. It sure wasn't going to get better by doing nothing...but believe me, up until maybe a week before, it was an agonizing decision...it's traumatic!...but once I committed committed, I just put my trust in God and followed it through and what will be will be. I'm still in pain from the operation and have very slight phantom pain where the left testicle was...but at least I know, or hope, it's only phantom pain. I still have numbness from the operation effecting that area as well right now, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed on final pain I have to live with prognosis. I'm definitely feeling positive about at least having done something after 30yrs! That's for sure. Having one less testicle is surprisingly almost unnoticeable. One huge benefit is I no longer have this 3x normal size testicle that was front and center and in harms way all the time. And hurt like hell whenever it was bumped. Plus it was also always in the way of good sex, having to push it down out of the way all the time was not fun. Oh and I'm looking forward to finally wearing boxers again. I'll write again more in a few months and tell you how it's all going. Lastly I'd say you definitely need to feel comfortable with your surgeon, or find one you are comfortable with...having that good doctor relationship was key for me in feeling like I'm making the best decision possible with people that also care and want to get it right.
