I am just glad to know I am not the only one with this freakish symptom.
It IS a nightmare.. drooling on my pillow, mouth filling up with bubbly spit while trying to have a normal conversation.. disgusting everyone around me. It is literally cupfuls and cupfuls of saliva just streaming out! And it totally doesn't work to swallow - just makes me nearly vomit.
What helps (sorta): sipping water flavored with stevia & lemon, sucking on sugar-free candies, tucking a tiny piece of raw ginger in my cheek, eating my food very, very slowly to take more time.
Hang in there ladies, it is totally worth it when you hold your beautiful new baby. (I'm on #3)

Im glad Im not alone too !!!
I noticed reading this that we all handle it differently, some use cups, some bags, some towels.
I find it more compfortable to use bath towels when Imm home, since Im on bedrest for cercage because I also hae incompotent cervix and Hyperemesis!
I go thru about 3- 4 towlels a day and could use more towels actually.
When I go out I bringboxes of kleenex and plasic bags to put them in and more bags to throw up in. :(
My mouth breaks out from tissue kleenex so I apply vassaline when I get home over and over again.
I would use a cup but its very uncompfortable especially when sleeping!Id rather snuggle with a towel.
Also it would be easy to dump the cup over since I have hyperemesis and would lose control of it when Im getting sick. :(
Iv even brought a bath towel in the emergancy room with me from hyperemesis wich is severe vommitting in pregnancy and the nurse was rude to me!She came in giving me this dirty rude look at the bath towel I was spitting on and I did'nt look very good niether because I had been very very sick! I believe many DR's and nurses need to get educated on Hyperemesis and ptysalion!!!And treat these woman who really suffer with more understanding and care! Iv had some rude misunderstanding Doctors and nurses!
Also May 15th is now HG Hyperemesis awareness month!
I dont know how Im going to get thru my flight ,I have to go to my moms so she can take care of my daughter and I because Im very very sick.
This is my 3rd pregnancy and all were the same. I lost my first baby from HG Hyperemesis and Incomponant weak short cervix.
I had my baby girl in the 2nd pregnancy and she made it. :)Though it was very very ruff pregnancy to go thru, she was worth it all!
Im now 6 weeks pregnant and my ptysalion excess saliva started earlier this time, it started week 5 and has gotten worse!
Along with Hyperemesis.I have a weak cervix too and will be getting stitches , a cerclage and will need bedrest.
To all the woman on here with HG Hyperemesis, there are forum sites for Hyperemesis, I just found it and they have referals to HG Doctors wich this time Im looking for an HG Doctor and hope I get better care this time for HG, because I believe Iv been left dehydrated.
As for my plane flight, it will be ruff, In plan on cutting up squares with bath towels for the flight and using kleenex in the airport and plastic bags for when I get sick, so embarasing but its worth everything to give birth to my own son or daughter who I love so much and soon ill have my child and this will be behind me. :)

As soon as they cut me open in my C-Section delivery, I dropped my towel! Did'nt need it anymore. :)

This is my third pregnancy and yep the spits are back! It's awful! I work 12 hours shifts as a nurse 2-3 days a week and I'm having an awful time trying to conceil my spit so that I don't gross people out. If I eat a little something all day it helps. Carrots help the best. They don't have much flavor but do seem to ease the saliva a bit. With both of my other pregnancies this symptom never went away until the second I gave birth. I mean the very second....and no more spit....so weird! I've had a girl and a boy so far so I don't think it really pinpoints what you'll have. I'm just trying to get by....i know it will be totally worth it in the end! Good luck to all the fellow spitters out there!

Hello, like the other ladies, Im glad im not alone. I just use a plastic cup and stick a paper towel in it so it absorbs the saliva and doesnt spill over in case you do knock it over. It certainly is a pain when you have to leave the house but what works for me is just carrying a soda can and a straw (or no straw). Needless to say, I dont go out often but I am also lucky to be able to work from home. Hoping this will pass after the 1st trimester as Im in my 12 weeks. Good luck to you all and appreciate everyone sharing their experience.
