Oh wow, when I first started reading, I paused and checked For who had submitted this as I wondered if I had posted this somewhere in the last year and had forgotten about it.
I too, have what most of what you all have described, and I’m growing very tired of asking my doctor as it never seems as if they understand just how bad this sweating is. I happened to have been standing in a line at the pharmacy when it came over me this afternoon so I asked the pharmacist. My question was could he think of anything medical that could be causing me to sweat profusely upon standing. He thought a minute and said “no, not a thing”.
I am 56 years old, had a total hysterectomy 20 years ago at age 36. Like others have said, this is not hot flashes. I am 5’2” and weigh 215 so yes I am overweight. I have had 3 back surgeries and am terribly out of shape.
I went to the doctor two weeks ago after being in bed for 6 days, extremely tired, nauseous and feeling like my body was pushing me down when I stood up. She ordered several tests, one of which was a stress test and they told me that while I was out of shape, they couldn’t see any issues with my heart. Thyroid test too, it was fine. The last thing I am curious to see is my blood work but I don’t get that done until a wellness check towards the end of November.
My profuse sweating started about a year ago. No medicine changes I could tie it too. During the summer, the bottom half of my hair will stay wet unless I stay seated or lying all day. Just standing doing dishes or walking around will cause it. It’s gotten so bad I carry a “sweat towel” with me. I use a hand size towel. It’s quite embarrassing to walk around wiping your face. It happens even when I am in a store like grocery shopping. I know that if I sit down and wait ten minutes, it will stop. Very embarrassing to walk up to the cash register and be wiping your face from sweat.
One morning I got up out of bed, walked 40 feet to my living room, stood there while I got three pills out of my medicine bottles and by the time I got them, my face was soaked and I needed to wipe my eyes before they got sweat in them. I also liken it to “sweating under exertion” because as unfit as I am, I feel like standing is exertion.
If anyone here or someone reading has any idea, please post.

Same thing here. 41, not peri-menopausal, in fact regular menstruation. No night hot flashes or anything but every time I stand up or stand still I begin to sweat profusely. My body doesn’t feel exerted or under any stress but yet I begin to sweat. I had a physical and had all my labs done. I am healthy as a horse except for weight and spinal stenosis pinching my spinal cord in two places. My only theory for my symptoms is that it’s from the spinal cord compression. I was searching for answers when I came across this thread.

stop using stimulants (caffeine, nicotine etc). try to get used to standing for prolonged periods of time (stand when watching tv, or being on the computer etc). it also has a psychological element, a vicious cycle of fearing events that cause the sweating make you tense and you start to anticipate those events and sweat more and earlier... and ofc, just the sweating itself, when I feel the first sweat to start to appear, it usually activates my fight or flight response on some level, and the sweating gets a lot worse. But for now, all I can do is those things I mentioned earlier, confronting my fears of sweating, and losing weight to lessen my body's overall heat buildup especially during exercise and summer heat. these are what ive done so far, and they especially the nicotine& caffeine part helped quite a bit (after i had dealt with all the withdrawal parts, ofc). But the biggest problem for me atleast, is still the mental part. But I'm on it! wish the best for you all! - Drive By Commenter

I'm a 65 years old guy and have a cardiac problem, but do not suffer from diabetes. Lately I have started sweating at night. Even in winters. Is this sweating related to low blood glucose level?
