I have the same problem everyone else has laid out except for one detail: it only happens to me with beer. I can drink wine, red or white, and liquor both straight and in mixed drinks. I basically stopped drinking beer altogether and I haven't had the problem of nausea, abdominal pain lasting 1-2 days, and vomiting. I'm not sure if I'm allergic to a certain ingredient in beer (like hops) or if it's just the bitterness that upsets my stomach but I'd rather play it safe than sick and sorry. If anyone can help explain that would be fantastic.

Hello, I get the severe pain for about 10-20 min. I don't get it everything I drink. sometimes one beer does it. But other times can have 8 beers and nothing happens. Mix drinks seem to activate it more often.

It's probably an ulcer. This happened to me and that's what I was diagnosed with. Hope you feel better soon!

Ok this is new to me but just happened, I can't find an answer and I really wanted to have a few drinks tonight. Does anyone asking this question happen to have diverticular disease?

Yes! I'm on Wellbutrin SR and it happens to me too!

Such an obvious issue I can't understand why no one mentioned it sooner. I have a gluten intolerance which was more severe when consuming alcohol. Especially red wine. I personally think sulphites exacerbated the condition.

It could be a gluten intolerance found in the alcohol. Just an opinion, but as someone who suffers from Celiac Disease I, too, have experienced these same symptoms and they are even worse the next day.

I'm experiencing severe stomach pain - almost like a stabbing pain, severe nausea - after a single beer tonight. I've had the problem before. I'm 41, female, in good shape, healthy diet. I think FOR ME the problem is the type of beer. I don't know for sure, but I suspect there is an additive in light/low cal beers that I have an allergy/sensitivity to. Unfortunately, beer makers don't list ingredients due to their copyright/trademark/proprietary-whatever protection. It seems that my pain flares up mostly over American light beers - Miller Lite, Michelob Ultra, etc.

Those of you who have this problem with white wine - I've heard similar reports from some friends. I think that is also an allergy, but to what...? I don't know. I drink non-sweet reds and I don't have a problem having a glass or two of wine.

Just thought I would weigh in. I've been getting the severe stomach pain with small amounts of light beer for a few years now. It doesn't happen every single time but often enough that I'm wondering why I even try to chance it anymore. 0__0

If you're taking Wellbutrin/bupropion, you're not supposed to consume any alcohol.

Same here. If you figure it out then post here. I'll do the same. 1 shot of a sugary drink and shoulders feel like they are going to explode and my heart pop. I'll post if I figure it out but I had my liver checked 6 months ago and it was normal.

I know I'm here very VERY late cause it's the 2nd of Jan2017 happy New Years btw lol. I got this sore stomach after drinking vodka for about the 2nd time now it's brand new to me and it feels very painful! And when I get something real yum to eat to sober down I feel like I'm already full and I can't eat this amazing food for me to start sobering down! And on top of that I bust to go toilet and I haven't even eaten anything. Idk what's wrong but I guess I'll just stop drinking from now on.

Try straight alcohol no sugary mix. Then you'll see if it's alcohol or sugary mix.
