I am 16 with a regular cycle, a virgin, and on no birth control. My periods are so horrible that I just spent >20 minutes screaming and crying in pain, and I have a very high pain tolerance. Nothing helps these cramps. Not pills, not sleep, not heat, not tea, not food, nothing. I often have to go home from school because they're so bad. They don't get this bad every time, just maybe every third cycle or so. I also get nausea and have to defecate a lot while on my period. I've talked to my doctor and she recommended pre-medicating, taking pills every day for three or so days before my period is supposed to start. I tried that this time, and obviously it didn't work. My periods are also very heavy and last a long time - when I wear a pad I have to change it at least five times a day, and my period lasts for about a week. I can barely stand to leave my room. Has anyone had symptoms this bad? Is it just bad luck, or is something wrong? Please help me...

Urgh, I just replied and it got erased how annoying!
Hi Dannce,
I wanted to let you know that I suffered from the same thing all my life until last year when I had my hysterectomy and got all my lady inside parts removed. Doctors said there was something wrong with my cervix, tubes and uterus that they never found on any of my tests and they said it's normal. I had extremely painful and heavy periods almost every month, I would fill a pad every hour every 3 months or so as well which I would go to the ER for and narcotics were the only thing that helped the pain and from the ER was the best meds.
I had my child and everyone always said, have a baby and your periods will get better. I got pregnant and I thought yeah, 9 months of no periods this is great and after it should be better. Oh no, it was worse than ever.
The ER would give me around 7 or so birth control (or something like that) that controls and slows down bleeding and I would have to take these over 2 or 3 days. So your doctor is onto something you should listen to her and her advice it is pretty spot on. Ask her to start you on some pain meds that you ONLY take when you have your periods, I would be doubled over as well and I couldn't work or anything either but I could with some pills. It sucks but you have to.
I really hope this helps and I can't tell you it will get better but I hope it does. Good luck and if you ever have any questions just shoot them my way anytime.
