Unfortunately the eye surgeon should be answering that question, however, if you read posts about this (and there are many) the Doctors and the staff seem to blow people off and don't want to admit it could be a side affect from the surgery or even the eye drops that are used before and after the surgery. Some Doctor's do not like to be questioned, which is insane seeing as most medical sites encourage questions and post how courteous they are about contacting them with questions. I did have one staff member ask me not to tell the Dr. she said something or he would get angry with her and That should have been the red flag for me but when they told me I could go blind I foolishly scheduled the first eye.
When they tell a patient to go to a Neurologist or a Psych
Dr. they are diverting the problem to another specialist because they don't know what is happening or how to fix it, which doesn't help the patient of course. Common sense says it is from the eye surgery and going to several different specialists is costly and unnecessary. I seen those posts on another site. With all the paperwork about possible problems I never saw anything about headaches nor did anyone who worked at the eye clinic talk about it, which tells me they cover their butt with a generic list that can be considered notice of all possible problems and when you sign the release right before surgery it's to late to go back. I too, have had pain for 6 days now and the answer was call your primary care Physician. I believe it was a mistake doing the surgery and now feel I have no choice when it comes to the second. Our insurance companies seem to be so involved with their members now making sure they only pay what they have to under Medicare guidelines, why don't they have someone who can go over Cataract Surgery and all the real problems to help the member understand the whole procedure and possible side affects. All they have to do is read these posts and many others. That answer is because Medicare doesn't Care. You worked your whole life and paid into Medicare but they still don't Care.

I am 57 year old female. Had cataract surgery in late April - and initially all seemed to be great. First time without glasses since age 6 and use 1 contact in my left to gain close vision (food was even blurry). Now 5 months after surgery, I've had 24/7 headaches, similar to migraines with pain and pressure around my eyes, across my forehead on on the crown of my head with extreme sensitivity to light to the point of not being able to work for any extended period of time. I've seen the original surgeon and her associate and now being told to see a neurologist. After readying all the other posts - it doesn't seem that it's just me.

I had cataract surgery Nov. 23rd 2015 its now Jan 21st 2016 and I am still having problems like pressure feeling of swelling on the right side of my face the side of the eye surgery. Pain around the eye and I have no tearing at all as that eye is so dry and they say my eye lid glands are blocked. The pressure feeling gets worse when I go out side in the day light. I have to always wear sun glass's when I am out now. I also have headaches over that right eye almost every day and have to take pain meds for it that's probably going to ruin my liver in time. I canceled the left eye surgery and now I wished I hadn't had the right one done. They are telling me its Sinus and I have never had Sinus problems until this surgery and that is if that's the problem? I am also having trouble now with my right ear when I have my head down it feels like I am in a drum with water no pain though, but its troublesome not knowing what is happening to me. I am too old to be going through this. I am going to see my MD in hopes he can help me and if not I then will be going to an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist. Will I have to live out what life I have left like this ? I am 71 years old and don't need this misery. Oh before surgery I was told my vision on right eye was 20/30 the left eye is 20/25 their both now 20/25 why did I need this surgery? I was told I had cataracts in both eyes, but I could see fine. Unbelievable.

Yes, saw your post. I have had to have acetaminophen ready to go at any minute for some time now in order to avoid a migraine or to treat the aura if it comes. If I am without the medication, I will get migraine nauseous within an hour and you know how long that lasts! Debilitating. It has gotten worse since I completed cataract surgery in both eyes, and I am only 55. Light does it for sure as the intense light of my Android will initiate a migraine within 5 minutes if I have not taken acetaminophen ahead of time. Even if I prepare, I cannot look at my android very long. The migraines end up being centered in the mid-range of the back of my neck. Intense pressure exercise that can concentrate muscle tension in that same are will cause the exact same type of headache (push-ups) unless I take the acetaminophen before the activity. I am then, exercise or not, relegated to taking acetaminophen spaced throughout the day. I have to take it for sure if I am going to use my android, so I have to remember what I have taken up to that point as I don't want to take too much. I have tried Sumitriptan recently as a "substitute" and additional therapy, but it relieves the symptoms only about as well as acetaminophen, and you can't take much. I am trying to "avoid" the start of a migraine with the relievers I take. If I don't avoid it, I am much more restricted. It seems that the new eye lenses have been a main cause of this sensitivity.

This might make sense as it seems that the new light activity would be much more intense and would cause headaches that might otherwise not occur. I don't think anybody in here would have any comments, but you never know. Hope the person I am threading on is doing better.

same here, had the surgery a week ago and have vertigo ever since, headaches and sensitive to light. My vision goes from clear to very blurred and although they told me to wait a couple of days to drive, I'm am still not game enough to. People have to told me that it will be wonderful after surgery, that side effects only last a couple of days and then things would be back to normal. But after reading this page, I'm not so sure. It seems to me that there are a lot of people out there that are having problems.
