I haven't been around any peppers but, the middle 3 fingers on right hand are burning like I touched something very hot! At first I was worried about diabetes, but am not a heavy person and all my glucose blood levels are normal. So then I seen "lupus". Now I am really worried. But, I do have Raynaud's. But, I was just diagnosed with breast cancer, and am wondering if it is a nerve problem and am having bilateral mastectomy Friday.
Thanks, V

Omg I'm soo soo glad I read this!! :) I was cutting chile serrano for the ceviche I made, although I only chopped 3 smalls. I'm guessing that's why I'm having that burning sensation on my finger tips, like if I had put icy hot on my finger tips

I choped up a serrano (very hot) pepper last night. Started having crazy burning sensation in my thumb right after shower.... this is too hilarious that everyone here did the same thing. Chopped peppers, showered, and then immediately google searched. lol.

So glad I found this!! I was wondering how carpal tunnel (or diabetes!) symptoms could just pop up. I too cut up jalepenos and the tingling started just after a shower. Weird!

Exactly the same symptoms as the others - burning sensation in the first 3 fingers of my left hand. Was chopping chilies last night too! Started buring when I went to bed, wasn't burning when I woke up but came back after my hands got cold then hot after a long bike ride. Weird - will keep off chilies from now on! Glad to find it's not something worse.

This is SO Funny! Like everyone commenting above I to had burning fingers. I had to look it up because I'm keeping an eye on some health issues I'm having! So I thought, "Great, what symptom is this?" I too chopped jalapenos, washed my hands really well because I know I'd rub my eyes or something. Next morning took a shower and ouch! Thought my laptop was too hot! lol I've chopped jalapenos and other peppers and this has never happen so I probably won't use gloves next time either but will know what to expect! Just glad it's not another symptom! I have enough of them!
