Hi,
My mom had a kidney transplant in 1992 and has been doing well ever since. She goes for regular check ups and blood tests, takes her drugs and monitors her diet and so on. Yesterday she had some blood tests done and she was told that she has fluid in her kidney.
This sounded daft considering the kidney's function but what got to me was my mom seemed genuinely worried - she was quiet and distant. She doesn't often worry about this sort of thing, and this has got me worried.
She was asked to make another appointment for more tests and the earliest she could get is 4 weeks away! Based on the results of those tests they said she may require some surgery. I asked she go to another hospital to have the tests done sooner but she refused saying that "her doctors" are at the hospital she goes to now.
Now I'm not entirely sure my mom is telling me everything - so I don't get worried - but I quizzed her a lot last night trying to get some clear answers. I couldn't get anything more out of her other than that which I've said above. She is a nursing tutor and has been nursing for almost 30 years, so she knows what is bad and what is really bad. This I think worries me most.
Can anyone provide me with possible causes, explanations or info regarding this? I'm worried because she seems worried, but then again she is willing to wait 4 weeks to get the next tests done. But that could be her own fear of realizing her suspicion - in which case it must be bad right?
I know the description is very vague but any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Brandon
