Hello!
As the topic says, I tore my frenulum a couple of months back or so. After it tore, I had sex again a few days later, a week at most, thinking I was okay again. But alas, I was not. It tore again, and we decided not to have sex until it was properly healed. However, we regularly tried to have sex after that, with some weeks in between the attempts. Still, it wouldn't heal. I've read quite a bit on the Internet and most seem to say that it should heal in a week or so, but right now it's soon been three months since I first tore it, and three weeks since the last attempt. Of course, I've tried to keep it as clean as possible during this time, but I'm starting to wonder why it won't heal. Anyone have any idea on what I should do? Thanks!

Hi Sture,
See a urologist.
You may have a short frenulum in which case it is likely going to keep tearing. A "frenuloplasty", a simple office procedure, can be done to help lengthen it. It's done under a local anesthetic and shouldn't cause much discomfort. This IS NOT a circumcision or anything like that. It's just a few cuts in the tissues, not removal, to help it reattach in a different position.
It should also help it heal properly. Scar tissue (from your tear) doesn't stretch as does skin. Your urologist can decide if anything needs to be addressed there as well.
Hope it helps.

Does it not heal or does it keep tearing because you have sex?
Mine tore during sex and when it healed it was slightly shorter due to the scar tissue. When it tore again I put some toilet paper on the split to keep it from healing back together again. When it healed it was longer but not long enough because it tore a few more times. I did the same thing each time and now it's as if I never had a frenulum at all. Wonderful!!!!
If yours doesn't want to heal, perhaps some hydrocortisone cream would help along with the TP. That stuff works miracles for me to heal all kinds of cuts, sores, abrasions.

Another thing that I do on my genitals when I get the pimply things that sting, vitamin E oil mixed with a couple of drops of Tea Tree Oil - it is working marvelously. Might work for the frenulum? It's all natural too might work, give it a try.

I am reading this topic again as I had the same thing occur a bit over two years ago and it is still painful. Some days are better than others and my conscious mind doesn't really notice it, but today it has been particularly sore without using it for much of anything. As far as I can tell, a major function of the frenulum is to hold the end of the foreskin quite nigh the tip of the glands so that excess skin does not get bunched up beyond that point. Reason being is that I have learned to pull the foreskin back to at least the tip when peeing because otherwise the last bit of urine will always get trapped in that excess skin due to capillary action and then eventually get wicked out into my underwear and then pants. I definitely ruined a couple pairs of pants before I noticed I had to modify my routine. But still, whatever this physical soreness and inconvenience wouldn't be that bad; it's just that every time it reminds me how this injury was a factor in the ending of a relationship to someone whom I loved dearly. I've been trying to just get it off my mind, but this chronic psychical pain calling up soreness on the emotional front works quite an affect. Now every time I see a pretty girl around, the first thing I think of or feel is pain and soreness. I am 31 and in decent health; I just try to get through each day keeping my head up and resist the slide into apathy or cynicism. I still am convinced it is worth exercising even without the carrot of pleasurable sex anywhere in sight. I definitely didn't realize the importance of having a healthy and intact penis for optimal overall health.
