Hi Hannah
Here is more info for you -
Bacterial infection in vaginal area is the fundamental cause of vaginal pimples. As moist and sweaty area is most favorable for bacteria to grow their colonies, hair follicles get infected and damaged.
Infected hair follicles are clogged with bacteria, white blood cells and pus. The mixture of white blood cells, bacteria and pus is called plaque
Vaginal Bumps During Periods
Vaginal bumps flare up during monthly periods and become very painful. Most women neglect them as they most often disappear after few days.
Also, an ordinary vaginal pimple may sometimes complicate to form abscess. So it is advisable to visit the doctor at the earliest.
Treatment
After the diagnosis has been made, treatment and preventive measures may begin.
First and foremost, it is important to understand that moisture in the vaginal region promotes the growth of bacteria that reside in the surrounding area. Hence lack of cleansing indirectly contribute towards the evolution of vaginal pimples.
So keep the area clean and dry. Do not apply harsh soaps or detergents to this region. Wear loose cotton panties only. Other fabrics do not soak the sweat produced in that area and hence aid in pimple formation.
Vaginal pimples are often initially treated by soaking with hot water. Many women pop up the pimples. This is wrong and may cause deep skin infection due to the infected zit.
Vaginal Boils
Vaginal boils are also somewhat similar to vaginal pimples but differ in that vaginal boils are more severe and painful than vaginal pimples. Get them diagnosed properly by experienced dermatologist.
Soaking with hot compress is helpful in treating vaginal pimples. Hot compresses helps reduce inflammation, irritation and pain.
Do not use any self medication unless it is diagnosed properly by a qualified dermatologist.
Below is home treatment and safe for you -
3 Quick and Easy Steps to Treat Those Pimples Yourself
1. Apply Warm Compress on Pimples
- Take warm water in a clean bowl. Soak a small clean towel in it.
- Apply this over the pimple and keep it for a minute. Remove. Repeat the procedure again.
- This will soften the outer covering of the pimple.
- Try draining the pus, if any, in a plug of medicated cotton.
- Do not force drainage. Only the pus which comes out easily needs to be wiped.
- Draining pus would ease its tension, thereby relieving pain. Also, this will aid in early recovery.
- The best time for warm compresses is before bedtime.
2. Keep the Area Clean and Dry
Trapped Moisture and our natural secretions form ground for the pimple to grow. So, daily cleaning of this sensitive area with clear water is essential. Dry dab the area after cleaning. Wear loose cotton based garments, as far as possible, to let the area breathe. This will prevent the occurrence of pimples. Pimples are commoner if you wear tight jeans or shorts all the time. You may wear them when you go out for some time. However, when at home and at night times, try wearing loose cotton clothes.
No soaps or gels are required to clean this area, just plain water is sufficient. Too much of washing especially with soaps is actually bad. This is because it may wash away the good bacteria present in this area. This renders the region vulnerable to growth of opportunistic fungi, dryness and certain infections.
3. Prevent Recurrence of Pimples
- Eat healthy- less of fried greasy stuff and junk food. Take more or fresh fruits and vegetables.
- Drink lots of plain water.
- Use all cosmetics for the area in moderation. Many a times, certain areas of the body may be allergic to them, causing you an allergic reaction mimicking pimples. Better stop using cosmetics in the region
- Wash the area regularly with clear water. Wash from front to back.
Good luck
