I have a tic disorder and many non-cancerous brain tumors as well as elsewhere in my body. I get a sense of a huge ball of electricity in my head and with each bolt or zap that eminates from it, I tic (my body jerks, twitches etc). I also get migraines, cluster headaches, etc. The electric ball is like a headache without pain. It drains me. I have had these tumors for many years undiagnosed. I am empathetic, was tested as a teen and came up with pretty good scores for judging emotions of handlers of objects, can't wear battery watches for long because they stop, my phones, every one of them go through issues with recieving calls, sending or recieving texts while others in the house have no issues and same carriers and even when we switch phones and batteries drain quickly. I usually buy two.

I was 16 the first time I had this experience. I can also bring them on at will. I know this part may make me lose credibility with any reader, but several of these episodes involved out-of-body (hallucinations?) experiences. Not always, but that first time did. I remember it vividly. I was reclining on the living room chair watching TV with my feet propped above the heater vent. I felt an odd pressure between my eyes and another near the brain stem. The pressure grew into a buzzing feeling and continued to intensify until it felt like lightning bouncing in my skull. There was a loud "whooshing" sound that happened and all the buzzing was replaced with the oddest sense of euphoria. It was like an orgasm, but not isolated to remote regions; the feeling of ecstasy consumed everything. Also, I was somehow across the room. When I turned (in this hallucination?), I saw myself lying completely slack in the chair. I became overwhelmed with fear and felt and heard that "whooshing" again. I opened my eyes and yelled. I was confused and drained emotionally, but felt weirdly light and energetic.

So, there's my little story. I'm not sure if those out-of-body moments are hallucinatory in nature or something else, but everything is true. I haven't had one like that for many years, but I still will occasionally bring myself to that buzzing feeling because I tend to feel refreshed and clear-headed afterwards.

Have u ever been tested for the MTHFR gene variance or mutation. Another one is CBS gene mutation. A regular dr can have the MTHFR gene tested through regular labs like quest diagnostics etc. CBS u would have a little more trouble testing for. .... but my point is u it could be "over-methylation"

I know just how you feel. I'm 72 years old and have been dealing with this for about 45 years on and off. I've discussed this with gp and neurology docs (about 5 of them) and they just look at you like you're crazy. Have had many mri's, cat scans and other work ups by euro docs, but they don't give any reason for this happening. But, this is real and it feels very scary when it happens. The way I can explain it is: an electrical "snap" In your brain, that leaves you temporarily feeling somewhat disorganized, light headed and definitely frightened. It makes me feel like some of my brain cells are short circuiting and possibly dying. I've taken many different types of antidepressants over the years and think this could possibly be related. Right now I am on a low dose of Lexapro 10 mg per day. About a week ago, I started taking them every other day to see if I could get off them. I previously had not had the "brain snaps" for about 4 yrs. the "snaps" started again 4 days ago, so i'm thinking 'could this be the cause'? Any new info about this would be appreciated. Going to continue to try to "slowly" get off the Lexapro, and will keep you informed of progress. Thanks for all your feelings on this because it helps me feel "not alone or crazy" as the docs make you feel. Have a blessed week.

Gosh I did not mean to thums down this ! I got too excited! Everything you describe have been my thoughts exactly. I would usually always get this after a long weekend of spychadelics. Ever since I used to smoke a bit of dope in my early teens i've had these over bearing episodes of 'awareness' At a younger age it started off as a sort of 'truman show' mindset. As I got older and the drugs turned over to trips and developed my experiences into becoming nothing but everything at one time connected to the entire universe. Long story short we are all one and death is not the end. The only other person I know that gets the electric shock headaches is my mother who has also had what we call 'rebirth experience trips' back in the 70s, but still gets them when she's ill or over worked in a repetitive job. For the past year I have practiced lucid dreaming and one day hope to succeed astral projection. Because after heavy trips/experiences I found that I could lay with my eyes closed and be able to see my entire room through my eyelids and as I watch my mind would leave my sleeping body, I could control my dreams how I liked! With still some restrictions, but I am learning to do it all without mind altering drugs being present in my system. Anyway the electric 'zoobzoobing' headaches in my temples is always present during. I always had it when I would have bad flu nightmares as a child and now this week it has been worrying me as my dreams have lately been uncontrollable and I'm finding it hard to differentiate dreams from reality and the zoobzoobing is now electrocuting me mostly as I try to sleep but disconcertingly during the day across my brow area when Move my eyes to look at anything. Whats happening with that?

It has nothing to do with medication so let's all rule that out. I never mave taken medication and I'm 24 and very healthy. Never drink or smoke. I experienced this for the first time this morning. It startled me from the one second brain vibration followed by extreme dizziness. Only thing I could thing of is dehydration. I never drink water because it has no taste and gags me. I only drink tea and juice. Nobody seems to have an answer and this really concerns me. :(

I just started having these brain zaps. I had been on 40 mg/day of paxil for the last 4 years. I stopped taking it about 4 days ago and that's about when I started getting these zaps. I stopped taking paxil because it just didn't appear to be working any more. I remained sad and depressed and basically all bummed out anyway. I am a type 2 diabetic also. I have had elevated numbers lately and just couldn't bring them down. I read that anti-depressants can raise blood sugar so that's also why I stopped paxil. I still get elevated numbers in the morning but they have been coming down during the day. As I am typing this message I am getting zaps.

I 've had this annoying and strange buzzing fellin in my head since I was a child...with a HUGE urge to pop or crack some bone?? in the middle of my head.  I know ths sounds totally strange and my mom used to think I was crazy when I use to tell her that my head was buzzing and i have to "crack it".  Sometimes I do it over and over and over becasue the sensation just keeps coming and I really try not to do it in public because I'm embarrrassed.  I have no idea what's wrong, but I'm sort of relieved that I'm not the only one with this issue.  I'm scared that if I tell a doctor they'l lthink I'm crazy too and try to give me "crazy" drugs.

I am on my fourth day without my depression medication and have people thinking I am crazy (more than normal!!!). I keep telling my wife that it feels that the bottom of my feet are stnding on a nine volt battery and my head captures all "jolts". Yesterday my nine year old daughter had to catch me because I had lost my balance and it was a serious "jolt". This is the craziest thing I have ever had happen to me. VERY SCARY and it would have really helped me earlier had I just looked it up. I don't rally believe most things on the internet, certainly not medical stuff. Even if this is not the reason for my "self-electric brain treatment(?)" I feel better that I am not alone in my syptoms.

Is the senation you encounter accompanied by the smell of urine or presense of excess ammonia in your sinus? Do you feel as though you would or are about to pass out, faint, slip into unconciousnous? And does the buzzing feeling occur beneath the brain and in front of your frontal lobe? If so...
