Hi,
I just learned--eight weeks after the original accident--that I have a lisfranc injury on my left foot. I feel lucky in that the doctor says the joint is only slightly out of alignment and I'm not in a tremendous amount of pain. He's given me a choice between having a screw put in and restarting the whole healing process and leaving it alone and wearing an orthotic indefinately. I'm probably going to have the surgery, but am wondering what to expect post-ob.
According to the doctor I'll be in a cast for about eight weeks. My husband is going to be out-of-town for the first half of this period, so I'm wondering how difficult it'll be to recover while living alone. (Alternatively, I can go stay with my mom, who lives out-of-state). Has any one had the surgery while living alone? Will I be able to drive since the injury is on my left foot? Anyone ever tried to walk a (small) dog on crutches? What are your experiences?
Thanks.
Joyce
