Hello. I am 20 and I got told I need my tonsils out. Here's the thing, I'm not convinced that I really need then out because I just Have a cyst on one and my doctor is telling me that he wants them out. Anyway I am beyond scared as one would expect. I'm wondering exactly what they do when you get to the hospital. Do they put a catheter in? What if your on your period? That's kinda my big one. What do you wear on the day of? What do they make you do when you change Into the gown? I'm sorry I know these are all personal questions but I'm freaking out!! I can only take a week off of work so I'm hoping that I will be fine by then. What all can I expect? TELL ME EVERYTHING!!!!! I'm a worrier so that doesn't help and I google everything. I have had my wisdom teeth out and that was pretty bad but not terrible. I'm just scared that I'm going to cry 24/7 from the pain. HELP ME PLEEEEASE !!!!

Hello TorChe.

Why so nervous? Getting out tonsils seems to be pretty routine operation and most of the folks can tell you that. Many of my friends got theirs tonsils removed and were recovered shortly after.

That's quick procedure and you won't stay in hospital too much. You can wear whatever you want, and you'll be at work just in time.

It's important to be aware that, if you don't undergo this operation, you are more prone to infections, so it's for your own good. Keep that thought and you will make through it easily.

Just relax and don't panic. Everything will be fine, you'll see. As it said, keep calm and enjoy. ;-)

If you want some more info, feel free to ask. And, let us know how the surgery went.
