My mother-in-law was diagnosed two days ago with stage 4 gallbladder cancer. They originally attempted to do surgery to remove her gallbladder and a little that had spread to her liver but ended up seeing that more had spread to the liver than they thought. They were unable to do surgery and said she had 6-12 months to live with chemo treatments! As most of you, this is the first for me for cancer in the family. I am absolutely heart broken and am really struggling to believe that there is NOTHING else that can be done other then chemo to "slow" the cancer down. She is herself still, wouldn't even know she has cancer - this can't be happening. I am looking for real life experiences - not what stupid Google has to say. Had anyone with stage 4 gallbladder cancer lived longer than the time given? What treatments did you do - I want all and any opinions, experiences - good and/or bad. Thank you in advance.
