I had internal haemorhoids and external "flaps" removed 8 weeks ago. I have good moments I have to admit but most of the day and night (which is always the worst time) I am in agony of different levels. One doctor at the hospital told me "I was not in pain" it "was my imagination" and another told me that at night it gets worse (itchy, pain spasams) because "there is only the darkness and you - nothing for you to take your mind off the discomfort". I felt like smacking her. In a word the doctors dont really tell you what pain, itching, blood discharge and hopelessness to help yourself, to expect. All they keep saying to me is "it takes time to heal" yeah I guess it does, but HOW long are we talking? Surely that after 8 weeks I should have some peace to sleep at night - I only eat fibre rich food, gluten free cereals (as I've been told by one doctor this may be helpful) greens and I drink about 3 litres of water a day. I dont drink any alchohol at all and I sit on a ring cushion. I still dont get any relief on the toilet seat. I have to sit in a bowl of warm water with Pinetarsal to ease the pain after a bowel movement. Then I have found that Soov ointment does give some relief however, when first applied I feel like I'm going to pass out with the stinging. I have heard it gets better and yes I'm waiting for the day. However in the meantime I pray for death - literally - the pain is too much to bear. I have given birth to my second child in labour for 27 hours, but it doesnt compare to this nightmare. I wish I was told of another option (if there was one).
