To the Guest two posts before me.. I think you should see a Doctor ASAP.. A lump on your throat, difficulty swallowing/tightening of the throat & Odd sensations like food stuck, could be early indications of throat Cancer. It's probably something much simpler, but get it checked anyhow. Getting back on point. I've been having similar sensations of hair or food stuck in my throat for the last week, with slight tingly feelings as well. Never happened to me before.. As a Heavy smoker & drinker i always fear the worst. Some of the answers on here have eased my mind slightly. Still, if it's not gone in a week i'll be hitting the Doctors myself.

I have the same feeling on my tongue.I was near cats which I am allergic to. It is windy and there is a high pollen count. Itchy eyes, itchy throat and sneezy and a hairy tongue feeling. . Can't help wondering if allergies.

I think this porridge-like lump you describe is a clot of congealed nasal mucus. I have had them for years and others I know have had them too, but people don't mention it as they are a bit disgusting!! They are harmless but can drop down at very inconvenient times eg when one is out having dinner etc. Very gluey and sometimes with a hole in the middle when they have formed around a nasal passage.

This has happened to me before & I'm thinking its got to do with nerves, for example I have a sore back & shoulders and I'm feeling the same sensation.

Tomorrow I will go and get massage & see if this sensation goes. It kinda makes sense, last week I used the ab rocket & felt I've hurt my back. The pain started on my lower back spine and has gone up my shoulder & I've had the feeling for 4 days now. Hanna

As weird as this is going to sound I figured out what has caused this feeling. Before getting that sensation I had a toothpick in my mouth, it is a habbit after I quick smokes. Anyhow this morning it felt like something creeped out of my mouth & it was a little thin piece of toothpick, it must have been stuck there for a week & irritated my throat. I know I didn't use toothpicks after that day cause I was suspicious and I thought it must have went down after all the food I ate, but to my surprise & can't believe it, it was toothpick :)) hope this helped anyone. I have had this feeling since being left with it after suffering with a cold back in Dec 2013. I have had a camera up my nose, ultrasound on my neck and nothing has been found/seen.  But that feeling of hair is a constant irritant that never leaves me. I have been told that it could be to do with acid reflux, which yes I have suffered with for years and take Omaprazole for it. I was told by doctor to double the dose which I have been doing for the past 8 weeks, and if anything its got worse. Its been 10 months and I am no clearer to what the cause it or whether it can be resolved, but the thought that I may have to live with this is quite distressing. The constant need to cough, snort, swallow to try and remove this feeling means I constantly have a sore throat.

i have grastrol problems and this happens to me.many people think you have to have heart burn but not true .try taking a generic prilosic or acid reflux med for a month if that does not work then you can rule out acid reflux.

Sounds like you might have anxiety which can cause this.

I had this feeling and it turned out to be candida! I also have digestive issues. Candida caused the " hair at the back of the throat" feeling for 6 weeks until it moved into the mouth! No doctor could tell me what this annoying feeling was, and I saw about five! I was told it was anxiety, I knew it wasn't being a counsellor! posted this to help others as I know how annoying the feeling is and scary!
