Saw a plastic surgeon the other day. He quickly identified my forehead bump as an Osteophyte or bone spur. Said it was caused by an injury from long ago, which a person may not even remember, where the body forms new bone over the injury site to protect it. I have outpatient surgery scheduled for next Friday where, like Richerman1, the good doc will make a small incision over the bump then tap the bump off with a chisel. He said the bump will come right off since it is not part of my skull and is being held in place by some soft tissue. He said the whole procedure will take no more than 10 minutes.

The small lump in the center of the forehead is what's known as the "third eye." Seers have them. A word of caution--use your newly found power judiciously. Karma is a powerful thing.

I hit my forehead about five years ago, and a few years later, a lump appeard in the middle of my forehead. It does not hurt, but is very disturbing to me, for aesthetic purposes. I do not want to show my forehead anymore and wear bangs constantly, thankul that I can. I had an xray done and they said that it was an exostosis, which is bony scar tissue, that grows on a bone from an injury of sorts. I decided that I wanted it removed, so i went to a plastic surgeon. It took approximately an hour, and a lot of chiseling and grinding. It's been a bit over a month, but small bump is gone...but there is now a larger, round bump. My son SWEARS it looks better than the smaller, pointier bump, but still, there is a bump. I have another follow up appointment next week. My doctor does not seem to be that worried, and says that it should go away. A week ago, he tried to see if there was fluid in there that may have been making it swollen. There was none. He says that if there is still a large bump there next week, he will get me an xray and see what's going on and possibly go back in there to see if he can fix it. I am scared and wonder if I  made a mistake by having anyone mess with it in the first place. I wonder if going back in will only make it more swollen and worse than it is now. The ironic part is that the scar is barely visible

1.) I can't believe we're still talking about this in 12. This was made in 09! 2.) I just discovered the lump on my head a few minutes ago. I hate it, need to get rid of this pronto

Surgery went well. my bump is gone. I now have a one centimeter cut on my forehead which hopefully will heal nicely. My doctor said the bone spur came right off and it was the size of a Mentos mint. For me, there was no pain, no discomfort afterward, just need to take care of the cut which is way less noticeable than that bump!!

I'm excited to say that today i noticed that my lump/swelling from surgery is finally going down. It is still swollen, but WAY better and I am confident that it will continue to go down. On the upside, it looks MUCH better than the orignial bone exostosis did. I am glad I had the surgery. Will update you once I have my next visit on the 2nd.

Thanks for input.
