Hello , I had an inguinal hernia repair 4 weeks ago. Around the 3rd day after surgery I got out of bed and stood up a bit quick and had pain down both testicals. G to be repair was on the left with larposcopy and I had a vericocele previously that never was any issue. The left spermatic cord became hard just above the testical. Not much pain , just some discomfort sometimes, other times it’s none. I do notice the left testical is hanging a bit high. All other swelling has disappeared and I have a follow up with the surgeon next week. I did go in after a 11 days with some concerns. He said to follow up on the 3rd week. Just curious if anyone had a similar experience. Thanks

Hi, guest.
The hard spermatic cord after left inguinal hernia surgery could be due to post-operative swelling and inflammation. During the surgery, the spermatic cord, which contains the vas deferens, blood vessels, and nerves, is manipulated in order to repair the hernia. This can cause swelling and inflammation, leading to a hard and tender spermatic cord.
Additionally, scar tissue formation can also contribute to the hardening of the spermatic cord. The body's natural healing process after surgery involves the formation of scar tissue, which can sometimes result in the hardening of tissues in the affected area.
It is important to follow your surgeon's post-operative instructions and attend follow-up appointments to monitor your healing process. If you experience persistent pain, swelling, or other symptoms, it is recommended to contact your surgeon for further evaluation.
