I've been having the same " attacks " as others have posted. I am a male 59 yo. My symptoms are EXACTLY like the others.  with the wave of weakness that almost puts me to the ground.  I feel slightly sick to my stomach as well. Unlike that others my weakness has been staying with me for several hours after. Has anyone found the issue?? So many with the problem but no answers. Thx

Hi, guest.

A few potential causes for sudden weakness and nausea can include:

  1. Vasovagal Syncope: This is a sudden drop in heart rate and blood pressure leading to fainting, often in response to a trigger. This can lead to feelings of weakness and nausea. Triggers can range from standing for long periods, dehydration, seeing blood, or even sudden emotional stress.

  2. Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA): Sometimes referred to as a "mini-stroke", TIAs can cause temporary symptoms similar to a stroke but doesn't cause permanent damage.

  3. Orthostatic Hypotension: A form of low blood pressure that happens when you stand up from sitting or lying down. This can cause dizziness and weakness.

  4. Cardiac Issues: Arrhythmias or other cardiac problems can sometimes cause these symptoms.

  5. Metabolic Disorders: Conditions such as hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) can cause weakness, dizziness, and nausea.

  6. Neurological Disorders: Conditions like Multiple System Atrophy, Parkinson's disease, and other neurological disorders can sometimes present with these symptoms.

  7. Anxiety or Panic Attacks: These can cause a variety of physical symptoms, including dizziness, weakness, and nausea.

  8. Other Causes: There are many other potential causes, ranging from medications to infections to more rare disorders.

It's essential to get a comprehensive evaluation by a healthcare professional. They can take a thorough history, perform a physical exam, and order appropriate tests to determine the underlying cause of your symptoms.
