so I went back to sleep hoping for it to pass, it didn't and I suffer from low blood sugar besides, so I had to get up and eat, which didn't help. The headache continually got worse to the point where I struggled keeping my right eye open. That same morning I got so sick from the headache I was throwing up, naucious, and dizzy.
I thought it was a cold virus and would pass, but it lasted for 3 weeks, I never had any cold symptoms whatsoever, except running an
occasional fever now and then. There was no certain time of day it would strike, it was at random and would destroy my days out having fun. The headaches eventually got to the point of pain where I couldn't touch the right side of my head without a lot of pain.
This virus doesn't seem to be picky about age, as I've read in other posts, it strikes anyone of any age. I am 25 and it got me bad.
The only thing that seemed to relieve my pain was heavy doses of 200mg or more ibuprofen or excedrin migraine and closing my eyes and doing nothing, even when the pain was gone, I could still feel like it was still there silently in my head somewhere, causing me nauciousness and dizziness.
I wish they would find out what's causing this and find a cure for it, it's very painful and I don't wish this on anyone ever.

I just had it too. And as I make comments I have found 2 more people that had it in the last 2 weeks. Symptoms: extreme tiredness, body aches, one day intense headache (inside mid of head) and in neck , neck actually felt stiff as I was waking up and from then headache continued all day. Afte that the tiredness was intense and needed lots of sleep, felt unable to get up even to go to class for the first time in my life. Found myself sleeping and run down many more hours of day and incredibly hard to wake up in the mornings; for like 3-4 days (specially 2 days); now it is easing up some. One day extremely sudden swelling of my left throat, felt lke a huge tonsil inside, nothing visible; went immediately and gargled multiple times with the only thing I had in my purse 'rosemary oil' and water; subsided in 10 minutes and stopped 1 hr after that. (stop your sore throat quick, my friend that had the same actually developed plaques on her throat, and a week later a bronchial cough that she still has). No fever, even though I keep feeling very hot and actually sweat as I sleep these tired naps. No nasal symptoms or discharge. But taking my temperature I am afebrile.
Has anybody gotten a diagnosis or testing for this?
The only similar symptoms I find on the web as I look are to west nile virus and the cdc site on west nile virus).

My symptoms are similar to others' in this thread. I started with a headache that grew worse and worse over the course of day 1. Pain mostly in the front and middle/top of head. Early on day 2, it waned to being about 20% of what it was, maybe in response to Advil. Evening of Day 2 it got very intense, like about 80% of the worst ice cream headache you've had, but never quitting. Also experiencing some bouts of dizziness. Advil and Tylenol would reduce the pain only about 10 or 20%. This continued early into day 3, upon which time I took myself to the emergency room. They gave me something akin to Ibuprophen intraveinously, but it had little effect. Head CAT scans, torso X-rays, blood and urine showed nothing abnormal. Doctor's daignosis was some kind of virus and the only thing to do was tough it out. Headache persisted day 3, but down from its peak intensity. I followed up with my family doctor the morning of day 4. His diagnosis was it may be a migraine, but I have never had a migraine and do not exhibit the common symptoms of migraine; I am not sensitive to light or sound, and have had no visual oddities. He perscibed Fiorinol with Codeine for pain, which helps a lot but does not completely eliminate the pain. I felt well enough, but still nowhere near normal, to go to work on day 5. Same on day 6, but started having more frequent dizzy spells, and beginning that afternoon my legs started tingling. Woke up day 7 (today) with similar level headache to days 4, 5 and 6, plus persistent dizziness and mild leg aches. Brand new symptom of day 7 is sensation of needing to urinate. However, I couldn't on first try of the morning, and was able to urinate maybe an ounce or two about a half hour later. I still feel like I need to urinate, but virtually can't.
This thing is kicking my butt and making life pretty unpleasant. I'm not very productive, and I cannot even think of exercising, which normally I do 4 days a week (CrossFit).
I had all these symptoms you describe and today found out i tested positive for glandular fever

and a nerve was damaged throughout a 9week stint with a personal trainer so i started seeing a chiropractor,
he said the headaches are unrelated to my back pain and suggested i get my eyes tested,
I got my eyes tested, perfect vision. i told her my symptoms, headache 24hours a day, tired,
either really hungry or no appetite at all, severe neck pain and lower back and nausia,
she suggested that i was pregnant. had 3 pregnancy tests, no baby. i saw the doctor today,
he said i have a virus in my brain. he said my immune system is and was down and i developed a virus.
has anyone else been told what caused it? thanks, Mel
