Hi I’m 19 yrs old and have never had sex. I have a problem with constant discharge, which is really smelly and thick. I have it almost everyday. I noticed this about 2-3 years ago and for some reason I thought it was normal. I have always been too scared & embarrassed to talk to my doctor about. I don’t know why I get it? I would like to know if there is any way to spot the discharge from happening and is there any medication which I can get from the local chemist to get rid of this annoying discharge?
Thank you so much for you help because I really need the HELP!!!!

Hi,
It may be a yeast infection but try to have a doctor diagnose it to be sure because it my not be.
Yeast infections can happen even if you aren't sexually active (I think other infections can happen too but I'm not an expert) ;-)
Is this discharge every day? It is normal to have discharge and it changes as we go through a cycle (cycle day 1 being the first day of your period)
If the discharge is different, start marking a private calendar with your observations and see if there is a pattern. A good book to read (in my opinion, every menstruating woman should read this book) is Taking Charge Of Your Fertility. Talks a lot about the cervical fluid (discharge) with photos and good descriptions.
Go see a woman doctor, it's less embarrassing that way and if it turns out to be normal, don't feel embarrassed. I think it's a good idea to keep track of what goes on "down there" :-)
Hope this helps and feel free to ask more questions, I'll try to help if I can.
(by the way, when I was 16, I had a yeast infection for a long time, thinking it was normal. So you aren't alone in thinking this kind of thing)
