Hello doctor: For the last 2 years, I've been in a commited relationship with another man, who recently discovered was HIV positive. He immediately told me. We've always had safe sex, with only one exception: oral sex. He is a healthy man, and got tested as a pre-requisite for dentist surgery (what I mean to say is, he is not sick or anything). We both went to the RED CROSS, and got tested. His results were, again, HIV positive. My results were negative (which means I'm not infected). This was one week ago. If I had been infected the past year and a half, it would have shown. The last time we had a risky behavior was six weeks ago: I performed oral sex on him, he ejaculated in my mouth and I swallowed his semen. I don't have herpes or lesions in my mouth, although I have dental braces and I'm told they cause micro-lesions. I'm not sure about that, because since I know him, I've had braces. So this is my question: Is it possible I'm infected with HIV? If the last time I was exposed was 6 weeks ago, would it have shown in my tests from last week? I've read in most cases seroconversion occurs 2-4 weeks after contact, and after that is shows on tests. For what I have read, "statistics" are on my favor, but I need your expert opinion. JUST IN CASE... I got tested again, in a different lab. I'n have those results next week. I'll be expecting your reply. Thank you.
