HIV symptoms a week after oral intercourse?

I am female and I had oral sex with a male who ejaculated in my mouth and I swallowed. It wasn't intended on being a one night stand but it turned out that way. We only had oral sex, me giving him oral. Here I sit a week later with a sore throat and congestion. I'm paranoid about contracting HIV, are these signs or a weird coincidence? Please help.

Weird coincidence, probably.

The first symptoms of HIV typically appear as a flu-like illness, so more severe symptoms than you are indicating.

Saliva is very effective at preventing HIV transmission as well.

You can get an HIV test. The usual protocol is:

Test at exposure, to make sure you don't already have HIV.

Test at 30 days.

Test at 60 days. If this is negative then it is very unlikely you have HIV.

Test at 90 days. This confirms the earlier test.
