I suddenly developed hives 18mths ago & thought that perhaps it was due to latex intolerance as seemed to attack knicker & bra line. They usually went after an hr or two. Antihistamines worked but made me feel tired + didnt want to be on them for ever!. I read somewhere that dates contain natural organic sulphur (hard to find in sny foods) which can help allegies.Since i started having two a day my hives have disappeared!! I also take almond milk instead of dairy on my morning porridge & a cup of green tea (macha powder). All I can say is hives have not come back - anything worth a try! Good luck to all you guys hope something works for you!

I've been going in circles for a year and this might be the most honesty I've come across.

If you get this message can you email me referencing hives/hormones? I'd love to ask a few more questions! Hoping this solves my mystery!

OMG! I just read your post from a year ago and it's like reading my own story word for word. I have been having the exact same symptoms (angioedema and hives) went to the same doctors and gotten the same responses for going on three years now. I was put on the exact same antihistamine regimen (5 a day) which does nothing but make me want to take a nap all day. I was wondering if you have had any diagnosis or treatment that has worked. It's sad, but I've dealt with it for so long now that I have all but given up on finding a way to make it stop. It's becoming my new normal and it sucks.

I also suffered from INTENSE itching on my hands and feet. For unrelated reasons (or so I thought) I went on Sertraline/Zoloft to treat my anxiety. My hives immediately went away. I stopped taking my medicine when i got pregnant two years ago because I found more natural ways to manage my anxiety. Now I only get hives before my period but they are much less severe. I also have an IUD and maybe this has helped.

I have never been on birth control and I have hives. I think you can cross that reason off your list. ;-)

Thanks for your suggestion for fish oil. I'm going to get some today!!

Hi, everyone one. This is a great site!! I have been experiencing these hives/itchiness around my periods on and off all my life but things have gotten worse since I had kids. I have self treat myself with just topical ointment. I recommend Calmosesptine cream (order online per Walmart or Amazon is cheapest). Calmoseptine work great on helping with the itchiness and burning pain. I find the bendaryl and steroids cream actually make the rash/hives worse!!!. Anyway, I'll definitely will try progesterone cream, fish oil, and vitamins.

I have been getting hives for almost a whole year now. They only appear at night, and are a lot worse right before and after my period. My friend has horrible back breaking cramps right before her period and recommended a women's tea for me that made the hives disappear! unfortunately, I ran out of the tea last week and the hives returned almost immediately. I finally called the tea place and the guy gave me the ingredients: green roibois, chrysanthemum, fennel, vanilla, rose, lavender, osmanthus, hibiscus, and Chatavari (shatavari). Hope this helps!

Hi. I'm sharing this in case it helps you. For years on and off, I’ve been covered in hives. Doctors didn’t know the cause, I was tested for everything (multiple times) and tried several medicines, creams, diets and vitamins. My husband figured out I was allergic to my stainless steel water tumbler and coffee thermos, and to our metallic coffee pot filter. I never would have thought metal was the cause. I switched to a (BPA-free) plastic water bottle, ceramic travel mug and paper coffee liners. This whole time, I thought it was hormones. I'm sharing this in case you drink out of metal containers, because many people do. The cheaper containers may contain trace amounts of nickel. My hives are gone and after years of suffering and no answers, I’m eternally grateful. I know some of you may truly have hormonal issues, but if you drink out of metal containers, it's worth a shot to stop using them to see if that helps your hives. As an added precaution, I stopped wearing metal jewelry as well (just the "cheap" costume stuff). xoxo

I am 51 years old. My hives began about 6-7 years ago. Took me a while to associate them with the onset of my menstrual cycle. By the time I did I had started menopause. I have been period and hive free for 4 years now. Just in the last 2 months I started getting the hives again...still in menopause. I believe its still associated with my phantom cycle because I used to be synced up with my sister whom I work with. I get the rash then she gets the period. lol Also someone on here mentioned how they would get worse when they went to the gym. I believe they increase and spread with heat. Once they started if I took a hot shower they spread like wildfire. So perhaps going to the gym would exacerbate it the same way. I am fortunate, it's not pretty but it stays to my torso for the better part and slightly itchy, but gone in a few days. I have never taken anything for them.
