I am also experiencing the same problems. i suffer from acid reflux and have IBS like symptoms. So i think the empty hollow feeling might be related to those problems. One more thing, anxiety disorder could also cause it. I have it too.

2). Peptic ulcers 3). Irritable bowel syndrome, spastic colon 4). ulcerative colitis 5). Crohn's disease,

I have here what I believe to be, the minimal sensation of burning, almost imperceptible and confused with an empty stomach. And you get a kind of relief by eating more. Not sure but here I put five causes. I think the more likely they are causing me this feeling are the bacteria or an ulcer. I think if I have H. pylori I could enter the water tank of my apartment by accident. Luck! 1). Helicobacter pylori infection is diagnosed by H. pylori? • Blood, saliva and urine: These are used to see if an infection is H. pylori. • Test urea breath: You need to drink a special liquid. Then you blow air into a bag or balloon. The breath sample will be tested to see if you have an infection with H. pylori. • BM sample: A sample of your stool is sent to a laboratory for the presence of H. pylori. • Endoscopy: This test uses a scope to look inside your stomach. An endoscope is a soft, flexible tube with a light and a tiny camera on the tip. Samples of stomach contents can be extracted and sent to the laboratory to check for the presence of H. pylori. H. pylori is spread through direct contact with someone who has the infection. The following may increase your risk of getting an infection H. pylori: • Poor hygiene: H. pylori can spread if you do not wash your hands after touching BM, saliva or vomit. • Food or dirty water: H. pylori is spread through food or water that is dirty or not purified. • Environment: Living in crowded housing conditions of people, centers for the mentally and physically disabled, orphanages, nursing or may increase your risk. • Malnutrition: A diet poor in vitamins and high in salt may increase your risk. • Unhealthy Lifestyle: Smoking cigarettes or drinking alcohol can increase your risk. 2). Peptic ulcers 3). Irritable bowel syndrome, spastic colon 4). ulcerative colitis 5). Crohn's disease,

I FOUND A CURE FOR ME/PLEASE READ AS IT MAY HELP YOU!
So I have read all of your post and I too have been suffering from the same symptoms. Nausea, Empty Stomach Feeling, Chest Pains, Cramps, Random Belches, Acid Re-flux Burning in the throat, Stiffness in my stomach and my chest. My symptoms are so bad that it actually started interfering with my sleep and I have a constant hungry feeling at all times of the night, even thought I had a full stomach, I would be sound asleep and wake up randomly with a growling stomach or I would have to get sick, but nothing ever came up, I dry heave all the time. I also get extremely nauseated all the time and the urge to throw up out of the blue or especially after I ate and when I was laying down. At first I thought I had come down with the flu or some virus that might have been going around, but quickly ruled that out when the feelings persisted for over a few weeks and in similar patterns. I was confused because I had never experienced anything like this before. So i started testing my body out in different states of my mood, because the crazy thing is all this started happening to me right after I had my home foreclosed, dealing with a break up, losing my job, I was close to broke and my self confidence was at an all time low, I have been going through this feeling of isolation for about a month now, where I have closed myself off from all my social media and friends and but need not to forget my life is EXTREMELY CHAOTIC and STRESSFUL. I HIT ROCK BOTTOM!! So I guess what I'm trying to say is, I discovered what I believe is the cause of all this. STRESS, ANXIETY, DEPRESSION, RACING THOUGHTS, NEGATIVE THINKING AND WORRYING CONSTANTLY. It was about a week ago and I was laying down and trying to get some shut eye, I had been laying in bed for about 20 minutes STRESSING And WORRYING, I felt okay when I got in bed but of course I aloud my mind to wander and I got myself all worked up and that's when all the symptoms flared up like crazy. So I was tossing and turning feeling horrible, I couldn't sleep at this point because I felt like i was STARVING TO DEATH. So I got a glass of milk and laid back down and started watching TV since I couldn't sleep. Well it wasn't before to long, I was 30 minutes into the movie and I had realized that all my symptoms where gone. So I thought finally i can get some rest, well I roll over and close my eyes, but I wasnt extremely tired and I laid there for about 10 minutes and started worrying why i couldn't fall asleep and i started having racing thoughts, then i could feel my anxiety coming back, and BAM, my STOMACH GROWLED, Had to throw up and they where all back. Then it clicked in my head, I was fine when i was watching that movie because, it took my mind off of everything i was worried about and stressing over, and it wasnt till my anxiety kicked in, so did all the symptoms. So I thought am I causing these horrible feelings because Im so stressed out? SO i tried a little experiment, as i was laying there, I completely cleared my mind and thought about all the postive things in my life and good ole memories and stuff that I knew that would make me happy. Well before you know it i was dosing off and my symptoms dissapeard and i woke up the next day well rested. But unfortunately it didnt end there, my day started off good and i was happy, but then my Anxiety kicks in because I had got some bills in the mail and they where past due notices, so i started freaking out, well in my head a thousand things where flying around and then BAM here comes all the symptoms all over again. Thats when I KNEW that everytime I got stressed out or over worked up and allowed my mind to wander into places it shouldnt. like negative thinking and such that it was causing all of my problems. So the next couple days, I continue to notice a pattern of stress/anxiety=emptiness/nausea/hungry/belches/tightness/heartburn. So what do I do, I imediately started teaching my self how to be calm and I would stay busy to keep my mind from wandering and negative thinking. At night I continued to use positive thinking and I wouldnt have to worry about losing any sleep. Now Im not saying this is the cause for everyone, but I have faith from reading others testimonies and stories that I can feel comfortable saying that all of those symptoms are brought on by:
Stress
Anxiety
Racing Thoughts
Worrying
Negative Thinking
Isolation
Depression
PTSD
Bad Nerves
Hostility
Irritability
Now Im now doctor and Im not trying to diagnose anyone nor have the authority too, I am simply trying to shed light on this seemingly hopeless problem that we all share. Im currently trying to live the most stress free as possible because I dont like feeling this way. I went to my Psychiatrist and told her about it and she was confused and wasnt quite sure what to think, she put my on Anxiety meds and since I have been taking them, I do not have HALF of the stress or anxiousness like in the past and havent been experiencing any of the symptoms and if I do, its very mild and for a brief moment. Staying busy and positive, motivated and exercising are also very important in helping reducing these symptoms. So with all that being said hopefully you all out there can maybe do the same thing as me and see if only happens when your stressed or anxious, etc. Either way I wish the best of luck to you and hope that you can find the answer, if its not what i discussed and get your life back before all those nasty feelings of emptiness. Thank You all and I hope this helps :D

Thank you. I do have a good sized hiatal hernia in my esophagus. I had an endoscopy about 6 months ago. Had a little gastritis but it didn't sound too bad. I also have a slow emptying stomach and therefore I feel bloated when eating very much of anything.

I am the exact same way. i literally used to be fine and used to not worry about anything, and i just finished exams last week and i go back to school tomorrow to start the last semester of my school years . and i was super stressed out, and I suffer from anxiety and IBS. I have been feeling full but theres this part in my stomach its in the upper part where i literally feel empty. but then again the past couple of days i havent been eating cause i havent been feeling that well and my stool is a little dark. I literaqlly stressed out about all of this and kept looking up symptoms for different things then worrying myself. and i started to stress out cause what im feeling i feel like i havent had before and i thought it was an ulcer. I literally used to go out all the time with my friends and i havent been out in the past 4 days. i havent left my house at all. I still dont exactly know what i have and maybe it is an ulcer and it stresses me out and causes my stomach to have pains. i agree with you. its driving me crazy and i need to fix this.

People, I have your answer. I had These same symptoms and I asked my doctor and he said it was acid indigestion. What?!? it went away. But these weren't typical symptoms. He prescribed Prilosec and in a few days, now anytime it pops up I start a regimen of Prilosec and it goes away. Odd you say? I said that too. But apparently the vagus nerve runs right through your stomache and can get irritated by stomache acid. The acid that is produced through bad diet, stress etc. All the causes that every one has mentioned. I would get that gnawing hunger right after I ate no matter how much I ate. Cold sweats, palpitations. Every thing. When the symptoms start, start on a regimen of prilosec or similar meds and it will work!

I have had this for months and did not know the reason why.
i got told IBS but i then realised i did not have this.
i then got diagnosed with Acid Reflux Disease which needs Pantoprazole tablets to reduce the acids which will eventually go. after eating a large meal, heartburn will kick in and it feels like something is sitting in your chest! HORRIBLE I know, or the stomach will just feel empty. i thought it was just mentally but my stomach is saying Yes and my mind is saying No, weird feeling :( i just take one tablet a day but do not know what else I can do.
and im only 19 :( it effects my social life and also the anxiety comes into it too although I do not have anxiety, i just worry because of the sicky feeling all the time and hollow stomach. even now, sitting at work i have eaten and still feel hungry :(
HELLLLLLLLLLLLP. I need a diet change but need to be fuller for longer!
