You should start slow, try first walking few miles a week or two, after that start jogging and see how it goes. If you want to lose weight one of most important things is nutrition. Eat 5-7 times a day, small but healthy meals.

Hey cky892.
Welcome to the forum!

I have my ups and downs... I run for few months and then I stop... and yes, staring is always the hardest.
But from experience (and I can speak for myself only) I find it best to start running... no walking, cycling or no strength exercise - simply start, just start. Slowly - do not sprint :D Start slowly. That's essential, also best for burning fat.

I believe it is best (again talkign from my experince) to run on softer surface - it is not recommendable to run or jog (whatever you prefer) on hard surfaces like concrete... Therefore I recommend jogging through forest or something like that if you have this option (be aware of the tree roots and similar as the surface may cause falls ...)

You need a good pair of running shoes. Make sure they are for running - not for tennis or similar .. buy yourself a good pair of running shoes - no need to be expensive ones.

Best time for any physical exercise is after eating - approximatellu 2 hours after eating, or if you had a small snack approximately one hour after. and I agree with Morpheus - it is best to eat 5 smaller meals - better than 3 or 2 big ... of course if your lifestyle allows you to eat that way... we all know how hard can this in busy schedule be...

Hope this helps!
Cheers!

I'm also a young person who has only just begun. I have done a ton of research and I've foudn that really helps. So read everything you can take each of the extremes of advice and forge your own middle ground. Stretching before and after is really important. Injury is the number one reason why people get out of the loop so take care of your bodies OWN needs. If you are serious about running then do it even when you are feeling lazy. You'll be glad you did!

How to eventually start running. What you should do is start walking, and over a period of time, you will get more athletics, then for a couple weeks, start fast walking for 15 seconds and walk slowly again, its all about repetition. Then eventually start running.
