Has anyone ever successfully returned anything to a manufacturer in the non-original packaging?

A couple years. I've never tried.

Depends on what it is. With the amount of moving I've done in college, it's served well to keep the original box, as that's usually the best way to move something. If it's a large thing like a tv, the box goes immediately.

The computer boxes are the only ones I've saved.

How long after the purchase of an electronics item do you keep the box? Has anyone ever successfully returned anything to a manufacturer in the non-original packaging?
Yes, I just returned an x-box to the factory in a fed-ex box and bubble wrap...and the xbox showed up in a lovely pink number by Yamaguchi. :wiggle:

We save almost all of them. The old motherboard is in the new motherboard box, same with fan, same with dvd player, etc. I still have all of hubby's software boxes, although they're broken down and in a box in the attic. The great big computer boxes have Christmas decorations in them, and clothes the boys have outgrown. John stores all of his alienware software in another box, I think it's alienware box actually. I have photos in the external cd drive box I bought a couple months ago. The gamecube box has paperwork in it.

But then, you know I JUST broke down the boxes that we moved here in, they were all broken down and stacked in the shed not being particularly useful, and even still I didn't get rid of all of them.

I love boxes!!!

I keep for a little bit. Especially for stuff like TV's. Just in case I need to ship it or something.

I have never returned anything successfully without a box.

When I've had to return a computer under warranty they have sent me a prepaid shipping box so the original box was not needed.
