I am wondering what a sensible quantity of crunches is for my morning warmups would be?

um......DUDE...i cant even eat that many Crunch bars. if it's only warm ups though i'd keep it on the lower side. the purpose of a warm up is to get the blood flowing there, not to fatigue the muscle before training it. if your trying to train the muscle go for the fatigue factor dude.

Try a swiss ball. That will kick up your ab workouts. If you are doing that many, it is time to switch up your routine.
