I had unprotected sex one afternoon with woman one who unkowing to me has Chlamidia.  That same evening I had unprotected sex with woman two who does not have it.  I began to experience symptoms 6 days later, with discharge and discomfort during urination. I was treated 9 days later.  How long after having sex wtih woman one did I become contageous, and is there any likelyhood I passed on to woman two the same day? Do symptoms have to begin occurring before you are contageous?  How long after treatment of 250mg of azithromycin can I have unprotected sex again? Thank you.

Hi Wondering,

You became contagious as soon as you were infected, likely immediately.

Chlamydia is a bacteria.  It reproduces very well in the human reproductive tract.

You MAY have passed it on.  There are no guarantees that she'd get it even if she was exposed but you should at least let her know there is a chance.  Many people NEVER have any symptoms and it can cause infertility.

Usually, it is recommended you wait at least 7 days before having unprotected sex.

Hope it helps.
