My husband got burned while making BBQ and gave us all a scare. But he says it does not hurt him and his wound has ashy-white color so I really cannot tell if it is worse than if it was red and swollen. I suspect it is more serious and I am wondering how to deal with this serious burn injury?

Third degree burns are also called full-thickness burns, or critical burns. Third degree burns destroy all the layers of skin, and can even affect fat, muscle, and other tissue below the level of the skin. Third degree burns have even been known to destroy bones. I don’t wish to dramatize but third degree burns can be life-threatening, and require immediate medical attention.
