My pain lasts for hours and the next day my arm muscles feel like I've had a good work out. It's certainly strange as I've never experienced so much pain.

This answer interests me the most because the first time i experienced this nerve like pain was when i nearly choked to death in a bagel. I was so close to either passing out or dying that i lost control of my bladder moments before i finally gagged up the bagel. Afterward i had excruciating nerve like pain in my extremities that lasted for several days. I asked my dad who is a nurse about it and he theorized that while i was choking my body naturally responded by clamping down all the veins in my extremities to save my vital organs. It's called vasoconstriction and I suspect that's what's happening when i throw up too but i cant find any information to support that. IF that's what is actually happening that might explain the drop in pulse ox.

This is so weird... this always happens to me each time I throw up. The only thing that helps with the pain is crossing my arms across my chest and rubbing my forearm. Another thing about me is that when I throw up it's always with lots of pressure. I guess it's a condition.

I have the same issue but normally after throwing up quite a few times. The muscles become strained and some people use much more of their muscles when they throw up. I have a friend that throws up silently and doesn't move a muscle- lucky! Everyone is different, though. If it's happening after quite a bit of throwing up it's probably not just the muscle use, it's also probably from dehydration. Dehydration can cause serious aches and pains and unfortunately when we're throwing up it's not always easy to stay hydrated. Pedialyte and 800mg of ibuprofen is my go to when I can finally stomach anything.

The reason that it hurts so bad is when you vomit your muscles in your chest and back tighten to get the vomit out. It is kind of like squeezing a ketchup bottle( you she to squeeze the front and the back to get the ketchup out) . We don't typically use those muscles at the same time unless you are vomiting. Depending on How many times you vomit or how long you vomit can determine how sore you are and how long it stays! All of those muscles are attached to our arms which will make our arms feel weak shakey and sore also! Hope this helps

When you throw up, it's a violent attack on your body. All ur stomach muscles are clenching and the inside becomes inflamed. It is normal for ur stomach to feel very sore after this happens. I had the flu and threw up 24 times while dirrehea at the same time. By the time it was over my stomach was uneasy and I couldn't eat normal food for almost 5 days because the trauma all the heaving and gagging put on my stomach. This is normal and it happens and unfortunately it's something you can't fix.

Nausea all day from new medication. Then violently threw up multi times in a row. I almost choked/aspirated so forceful .I really thought eye blood vessels would burst. Then both arms statrted to tingle all down to my wrists. Never happened before. Then they hurt for about 30 mins. No answer except maybe dehydration. Very frightening. I am 75 years old and female. Hope no repeat!

This happened to me today when I dry heaved from my car sickness but this has happened in the past when I've thrown up from a bad flu and I did some research and it seems it's a pinched nerve, hurts like hell and does make your other problems subside in the midst of it.

I get the same in my arms, back and shoulders. My GP didn't know why either. The pain is awful and makes me fearful of vomiting. Would love to know why.

just have to add a 'me, too.' four bouts of violent vomiting in one night and the aftermath is painful and scary. Been over 24 hours and i still dare not breath deep cough or burp (terrible soreness in sides and back and chest) or the worst, sneeze. (stinging horror down arms back etc.) I understand the soreness but this second phenomena i would love to hear some actual medical explanation for.
