I think there is currently a study going on a Center for Human Reproduction in New York a Free Clinical Trial for woman TTC and are over 40. They are doing studies on DHEA which increases egg quality and egg quantity by something like 30% . I say it is worth a shot for us women over 40 who want a Baby ! Don't give up ! I have read several cases of women over 40 who have successfully conceived naturally after taking I believe 25mg of DHEA 3xs daily for 4weeks to 4 months , I suggest giving the CHR a call or an email and find out more info ,if you are really interested . The studies have been going on since 2005, and will continue I believe until 2013 . Lots of Baby Dust to you lovely women...

Hi, my husband and I had a baby with help of an egg donor - I had an easy pregnancy and gave birth to healthy child at age 52.  Cannot tell you how wonderful this experience has been, and how grateful and thankful we are for our thriving child. By the way, I did breastfeed the baby.  We would not have become parents if we were not both in good health and possesing the financial resources to support child, in addition to having a good support network.

i am 53 my husband is 25 we really want to have a baby ,i realise now we will have to find a egg donor this is so expensive i am worried we cant afford this but i understand were you are coming from ,the child would have really loving parents who against these odds are willing to go ahead ,there is no guarantee just because couples are young the child will have parents who stay together or live to old age

I am 40 and in early stages of menopause. I did not have a period for a month and saw a gynae who confirmed i was menopausing. I went back on the pill to get my period back. What i want to know is, is it possible to take fertility pills to fall pregnant once you are menopausing? I would like to try for a baby. It is breaking my heart knowing i am menopausing and i still want a baby.

Firstly, your too darn old to produce baby of your own, unless you wish to play games with DNA. Your best bet is consulting with a specialist on what your opportunity is for fertility, or even surragate substitute most likely in your case.

Secondly, have you considered that as you age your health may not be as TOP SHIP SHAPE as it is now; even in 5 yrs from now you may have health related problems. How would you be able to juggle a child, and health issues, and aging, and planning for even who might care for your kid if you were to expire before the kid could take care of her/him self. Is that really fair to this EXTRA human you are wishing and fantasizing over bringing into our already overcrowded country. Perhaps destiny doesn't want you to make a baby now, so your body is doing what its supposed to be doing----retiring, and going onto phase 2 in life post eggos, and now it's time to go take a Princess Cruise, or explore the single scene if that's your lonliness, or visit your relatives in Canada.

But dont bring a baby into this world that may soon becomew a "Lone Wolf" that everyone around it becomes extinct, except the young person left to fend for themselves in a cold, harsh, selfish, greedy country out there. You should explore support groups of older women who like yourself are feeling this emptiness and need to nurture a new child, and perhaps come up with some creative solutions for yourselves.

Sincerely,

A 1st Responder
