Hello kaka,

Sorry to hear that you mother has diabetes, is over weight and high cholesterol.  Sounds like she's had a bad diet for a long time.  Perhaps her entire life time.  Well, there's no time like the present to change that.  In fact, changing you can have fairly immediate results on the way you feel and look.  Chances are you mother hasn't got enough fiber.  First things first.  Eat Oatmeal for breakfast with some fruit.  This is great for diabetics and people that have high cholesterol.  The fiber in oatmeal attracts some of the sugar and fats that come into your system trapping so they can't absorbed by the gut.  this can effectively lower your cholesterol and sugar levels in blood when eaten every day.  You could have some toast, coffee/tea/milk as well.  I would start with this wholesome, hearty breakfast to start with.  Beyond that eat small portions of lean meats/seafood, fresh veggies and fruit and stay away from desserts.
